Official Wednesday PSAT Discussion

Hey--is #19 on any of the math (B)?

i'm -1 grid in on math and -2 or 3 on CR i think.

oh well, i'm not getting commended, too many damn errors under too much pressure

Me too, perhaps by some fate I will. I mean, I hope everyone who took the test was dumb and skewed the distribution so scores were low and they had to curve it up---my mantra.

There was a NOR...the "error" was in the part about extroverts. Who's got a test booklet por favor?

please some writing questions? i think i bombed writing. how about the teutonic knights question and the 2 questions that followed it? jrcho?

or perhaps we do overestimate the national population that took the test?

What about the (a+8)(b-8)=0 a^2+b^2?
I set each factor equal to 0 getting a=-8, b=8, therefore (-8)^2+(8)^2=128

Hey guys, I got lucky my school paid for the sophmores, like me, and the juniors to take the sat. What did you guys get for this one: ( i read it so much i memorized it LOL

If w+x=t, and w+t=y then what does Y equal in terms of x and w ??

Im hoping for a 200 at most.... Any tips on how to raise math score ?

baggins: only one of the terms has to equal 0. so the other term has to equal +/- 8. (8)^2 and (-8)^2 both equal 64, the answer.

Writing

34.

Aerial photography is thought A(to be) B(the most efficient) technique C(to gather) accurate D(information about) the use of land.

What do you guys think. I was deciding between C or E

i'm still not positive on sympathetic concern, oh well. What about the psychology passage? Did one have to do with not everything has deceit in it or something like that.

Answer is (C) should be "in gathering"

oh, i've never heard of that idiom, but i chose C by luck. phew.

Writing

C(to gather), this is the infinitive, should be the gerund form, "in gathering"

Wow, I totally bombed. Can't wait 'til December!

if you had the opportunity to read it aloud, you would have heard the mistake, unless ur not accustomed to english, its just not right to have "to be" followed by another infinitive.

wow i have massive luck on that question.

jrcho, what are the other writing questions? i think the ones around #34 were tricky. what about the one on tokyo and new york and population?

Phillykid28: that is x+2w=y because you can plug in w+x from the first equation in for t in the second equations. Then just combine like terms.

billyum: I know only one has to be 0 but if you treat it like that, then the second term can be any number which means that you could put almost anything down for the answer. Thats what bothering me.
