OFFICIAL Williams College Class of 2014 RD Applicants

gasp

So…it IS true.
:(

Lord Jeffs? No?

EDIT: I LOVE QUASI! PURPLE AND WHITE!

I plead the fifth.

Of course we’re Lord Jeffs, MM, we’re just here to assess the enemy before we declare war.

late reply but yeah- the only college I’ve gotten into is my state university (pennstate)
I wasted my early app on stupid yale. :frowning: BAH

Stupefy, I know you posted it before, but did you get deferred from Yale?

Pennstate isn’t terrible, either, especially their honors program. My parents are forcing me to apply to one of MY state schools (Binghamton)…getting my stuff together for that school was like pulling teeth.

Yup. At first, I was fine, I was like yeah that’s what I expected. but as the days have gone by, I have become increasingly bitter/indignant. it was really my first choice :(

Eh, I’m in the same boat when it comes to Brown. I feel a slight pain whenever I see my friend who got accepted ED talking to other Brown '14s. I like a lot of my other choices, though, so I just want to get accepted to some of them, send in my deposit, and be done with it all, haha.

PS, I like the word “indignant.”

@Stupefy: I was rejected from Columbia, which had been my first-choice for years and deferred at Chicago, which was a close second for equally long. I know how it feels. (And it makes waiting for RD results even more irritating)

^I’m sorry to hear that :frowning: lets hope for good prospects come april

Yes! Let’s.

What other schools are on your list, Stupefy? And Srrinath, what are some of the schools on your 17-strong list?

@Dramacratic: I’ll PM you the list.

I thought I already posted my list, but it mustve been some other thread. Haha I should just put it into my profile

my list (in loose order of preference):
yale
harvard
princeton
columbia
upenn wharton
duke
williams
brown
NYU stern
georgetown
UVA
pennstate (accepted)

Solid list. =]

I was too lazy to go back and look at other threads, haha. Thank you for putting up with me. :)

What are your safeties stupefy? NYU, UVA, and Penn state? All those schools seem really strong with the exception of Penn State.

NYU Stern is certainly NOT a safety.

Pennstate and UVA would be, I guess. But def. NOT NYU Stern.

I’m not really familiar with NYU accept rates so that’s my bad. I think its hard to consider UVA a safety as well.

Stupefy, what makes both NYU and Williams attractive to you? They seem to be at opposite ends of the college spectrum… one totally urban, one in a little mountain village; one big, one small.

I agree with Government…I was looking at your list:
yale
harvard
princeton
columbia
upenn wharton
duke
williams
brown
NYU stern
georgetown
UVA
pennstate (accepted)

It seems that you’ve an interest in Business…but you don’t know whether you want it in an urban setting or rural setting. A few of these schools are smack in the middle of a city, and a lot of these aren’t - Williams, as an example. Seems a little odd.

My S’s two top schools were Chicago and Williams. He was accepted at both. For some, the setting is not as important as the academics.

What U of Chicago and Williams both have is serious academics but a bit of a whimsical attitude. That ability to make fun of themselves is what S found in common.

There are many commonalities – strong music and classics departments which interested him among others.

Locale is just one very simple element of a school. And he’s a very flexible person who would have thrived in either environment. He grew up in a small town and spent time both in NYS and along our unlit, uncurbed streets. Last night he saw a deer driving around. So either environment would not be what he grew up with (actually almost suburban) but both are familiar.

He chose Williams, but I think he still feels fondness for Chicago.

I am interested in business
yeah err for me, “setting” (ie big city, rural) isn’t as important to me…I feel like most of the college action happens on campus anyway. if I had to choose between new york city, and williamstown, I would choose NYC because I’m more of a city girl. but if I had to choose between NYU and williams, I’d take williams because I think it’s more conducive to LEARNING

wow I just realized that mythmom already said exactly what I just wrote

and to everyone I guess- none of the schools on my list are “safeties” since I’ve already been accepted to my safety, Pennstate where, assuming I get into schreyers, tuition is less than 8k. that being said, I would say half of my schools are “target” and half are “reach.” I hope that with my qualifications, I 'll get into at least a few of them
