Official Yale Class of 2014 SCEA Discussion Thread

2 were accepted from my school, both Koreans…

That’s nice.

It’s very interesting. I somewhat regret not applying SCEA, because looking at the results, I think I would’ve had a better chance than it had initially seemed. But, alas, RD still looms, and I’ve already submitted.

Congratulations to everyone who drew the lucky number in this round, hopefully those deferred will strike lucky somewhere else.

^^^^^^
Breuer- Looks can be deceiving. If I was looking at this thread without knowing if I was accepted/defereed/rejected, I would have thought my chances were better too…alas I was defered.

To the person who said Yale was nicer, yes Yale is nicer, and it’s hard to convince myself that any college is better than Yale. Nevertheless, their deferrals are NOT nicer than Stanford’s closure.

Congratulations to all accepted. You have all worked hard, and have reached your goals. Enjoy the feeling. I hope to join you all in April.

Oh, and my dislike of AA just increased even more.

Do yale and harvard both have EA or ED i am confused?

REJECTED!!! BOOYAH
Gonna apply to other colleges, and if i get accepted into another ivy, i’m a laugh in Yale’s face
THen apply grad school to yale 4 years later

christiansoldier
up to now, all of the 2400’s I know were either rejected or deferred, myself included…i guess they are really looking for sonething that we don’t have…though i’m not exactly sure what it is

One 2400 got in, if you read through the thread.

Still, I expected we would fare better.

do u guys have something extra to go with that perfect score???
or yale is just trying to freak u nerds hehe by deferring u and then accepting you in the RD round…

AHAHAHAHHAHAHA so. all 6 Asians from my school were deferred, me included. YALE HATES ASIANS. boooo. Oh well hopefully RD will go better for my other schools.

I made a 2400 and I was accepted. so that makes two?

hey…i’m a URM(Native American) with a 34 ACT, 1000 volunteer hours, all 5’s on APs, and work experience and I got deferred…

This is all crazy

yale doesnt hate asians!!
just to mix it up: the only people from my school who got in were asians
=)

there sure were alot of asians deferred on CC 90% probably or probably 100% hehe

Non-deferred Asian here!

I don’t understand why 2400-ers feel a sense of entitlement as if, as an uber-select group, they should’ve done collectively better.

Each person with a 2400 is an individual. And a 2400 itself is just one test score (albeit a mighty impressive one). Gaining an acceptance to Yale requires far more than a string of 800s on one’s resume.

That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if some of y’all (the 2400 group) got into Yale in the regular pool.

(And christiansoldier, I don’t mean to rub salt in any wounds - really - but I think your retaking the 790, and an SAT score in the upper 2300s IIRC, may have contributed to your deferral… Said retakes may have made you seem test-obsessed, though I know that may certainly not be the case; it may just be more for a feeling of personal accomplishment than ohmygodi’mnotgonnagetinwithoutperfectscores. I’m no stranger to the former sentiment.)

I understand, Gov. I was considering taking a hint from SCEA and using score choice in my RD, but I’ve decided against it. The way I look at it, I’m driven to be the best in everything I care about (which is just about everything I do). If a college is going to hold that against me, it’s the wrong place for me. If Yale doesn’t want me for being too competitive or too ambitious, then it’s probably better if it doesn’t take me.

my friends, yale must convince itself that its students are not robotic. 2400s ruin the illusion. just a little bitter. but congratulations to everyone that got in! celebrate a lot!
