ACCEPTED!!! Will post stats tomorrow. Congrats to everyone accepted; my sincerest wishes for good luck to everyone else in the RD round at both Yale and other schools. Coquettish, don't give up hope for the RD round. They said there is a roughly 13% acceptance rate of EA folks in the RD round. My heart truly goes out to you. It could just have easily been me instead of you. Hold your head up high. Each student who applied to Yale has stellar academic credentials - just look around your high school. Cry tonight and then tomorrow start thinking about what you can do to rewrite your essay or polish your application. Wishing each of you all of the very best.

bobbobbob, you mentioned you're from the LI area? I don't think Yale "screwed over" all the schools around where you live. I used to go to a school on LI and 4 of my friends at that school (that I know of thus far) have been accepted to Yale EA.

Oops. Obviously posted after the fact.. lol.

I'm sorry the results have been so thin for you guys. Gahh.. Wish it was April and ALL the college results were already in so we could hurry up and get this over with :p

Because obviously I cant speak for all of Long Island but the area that Im in (Manhasset, Port Washington, Roslyn, Great Neck, NHP, ext...) is notorious for Ivy schools.

[] Job/Work Experience: none outside odd jobs (photography, poll worker)
[] Essays (subject and responses): One was a cute one about my name and the other was an extended metaphor about my outlook on life. I think these really helped me. I was very pleased with them.
[] Teacher Recs: Personally, I was a little disappointed
[] Counselor Rec: Good. best in career
[] Interview (feel and general location): It was in Gainesville, GA (why is this important?). It was so much fun. We talked about Star Wars. The guy was your typical class of 64er. He had the khakis, the sweater, the shoes, the house, and the smell. haha
[] Hook (if any): No hook at all outside of passion. I am white, middle class, low SATs, no national awards, no legacy, and I come from a fairly well educated family. Maybe my location helped a little.
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: Georgia
[] School Type, Average Stats of School (if available): Public; 1050 SAT
[] Ethnicity: white
[] Income Bracket: middle class
[] Gender: Male
[] Hooks: see above
[] Strengths/Weaknesses: I consider my character and integrity to be a strength. Math is my weakness.
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: My essays were good, but overall, I think it was my passion and authenticity. I strongly believe that I have a personal obligation to help the less fortunate and my essays and ECs reflected this passion. Yeah, it may sound cheesy/overdone but I was serious about it and I think it was able to shine through.
[/ul] Other Factors: No clue. General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: I wish I knew why I was accepted. I am speechless. Good luck to all deferrees in the RD round. For future applicants, dont stress too much because in the end everything ALWAYS comes together and works out thats just how life is.

3 people, including me, from my school applied ea and all got deferred. I was quite surprised, since we get 1-2 ea acceptances each year. o well, i'm crossing my fingers for RD.
