Thank you for choosing to remain on Yale’s wait list. I am sorry to tell you that a review of the status of our freshman class indicates that we will not be able to give further consideration to your application. I appreciate your patience in awaiting final word on your candidacy.

Thank you for your interest in Yale. I wish you the very best of luck in your undergraduate years.

Best wishes,
Jeffrey B. Brenzel
Dean of Undergraduate Admissions

I haven’t gotten anything. I guess it’s just a matter of waiting more. I’m not optimistic, though.
Vlessgorian, it was nice meeting you too! I know there’s something great waiting for all of us in the future :)

I haven’t gotten anything either and my eli account status is the same.
Where did you guys see that message? E-mail, mail, eli account?
I guess it’s over now. But the experience was quite interesting and from the little I know about you, you all seem like amazing people. We rock!

@BubbleGumSword I got an e-mail. I agree with you!! We should be happy for what we are and, no matter where we end up studying, we must make the best out of it :D

I don’t understand. I haven’t got an email either. I was under the impression that they only send ONE round of rejection emails to EVERYONE left on the waitlist when they had snapped up everyone they wanted.

The way they’re doing it this year would seem to suggest they’ve eluminated a certain group of applicants and have another group they’re currently looking at who are still on the waitlist?

Am I right in thinking this is unusual? There isn’t anything wrong with my email, and I don’t see why they would mail it to me since I’m international?

Thanks for the info, Jake. I don’t know what to think now - perhaps a letter is on its way to me. Seems very weird the way they’re doing it this year - I always thought you knew where you stood until everyone got the email! I wonder what the rationale is behind using either emails or letters.

It’s frustrating, because I’d totally reconciled myself to going to Columbia and was all content, until this irritating glimmer of hope had to appear Trying to get myself back in to that mindset.

Alright, I’ll be expecting something in the mail then.
It was an interesting ride. Wish you guys the best next year! great getting to know you.
Good luck wherever you’re headed :D

So… rejection? I haven’t gotten a letter in the mail, or an email, and my online status hasn’t changed. This is all really weird. Should I call admissions and ask if the waitlist is officially closed?

Icecream, if you call - which sounds like a good idea - could you update us on whatever they say? I might call too. I’d assume they’ve closed it but the whole thing is mighty odd.

Unless Jake in post #190 is lying about the WL being closed, what will a spate of calls to the admissions office do? I’d advise against it. I think it’s best to just wait for the letter and move on. Unfortunately not enough spots opened up. Best of luck to you in your other school choices.

@T26E4 I agree. My Eli Account status hasn’t changed but I don’t see why the e-mail would noy be trustworthy. Time to move on. A great hug to all of you!!

I finally received my rejection letter, though I’m not sadden – I am relieved to finally receive an official answer. I’ll be studying at Brown with hopes of getting into Yale’s medical school.

I’m glad to have accompanied y’all through this arduous process.

P.S. For those still waiting for their letters, mine was dated on May 25th and I’m from California.
