I have been waitlisted for the 2018 class of Yale. I was just wondering how many more people here at CC have also been waitlisted so that we can know our chances.
Does anyone have any clear information on the number of people who are usually wailisted and how many are accepted later on?

Very tough to get in off wait list and difficult to get actual figures. NYT did an interesting piece last year, but few actual #'s included for Ivy’s. Expect something like 10-50 off wait list to top Ivy’s…

Last year 70 out of 1001 waitlisted students got accepted at Yale so gives me some hope

@Sophie1295 All the best. I hope to get in too.Are you sending any additional material.

I might send my school leaving examination results. I have already finished school and thus I really don’t have any more updates. I have to research if I can get additional recommendations etc. I’m not sure about that. @TimKanake All the best to you too!
I know a waitlist is not the most reassuring thing but it’s better than an outright rejection. At least we made it to the top 3000 of Yale applicants!

I’ve been waitlisted at Yale too! Does anyone know of the next steps or recommended step? I think there was a FAQ when I decided to stay on the wait list but since it doesn’t let me log into the Eli account I can’t see it anymore. =/

According to my Eli Account

Applications, Yale Class of 2018

Total Number of Applicants: 30932
Total Number of Admits: 1935
Rate of Admission: 6.26%
Total Number on Wait List: 1324

on the wait list too…but hey if about 70/1000 get off then that’s a higher percentage than the people admitted originally ;)

I am also waitlisted

In your opinion how much of the applicants offered a place in waiting list will reject this place? and how much this year they are going to accept this year?

@Eljui7:the answers to your 2 questions are unknown.

@Eljui7 typically about half reject their waitlist position and half accept.

Ooh, the waitlist. this ought to be interesting. I’m on it too.
How do we proceed from here?

Waitlisted at Yale. Heading out to visit U Chicago where I accepted.

@woof28 all the best once you get there :)>-

Am I going to get in?

Getting awfully quiet here! Have you guys received any emails from your regional officers?

Although I know it is a futile activity ,what do you think the yield would be?

sophie: there’s nothing to communicate either positive or negative at this point. No one on the WL should be expecting a constant stream of communication from Yale either.

You’ll either get the golden ticket or 99.9% likely, at some point you’ll be informed that the WL has closed. That’s tough to hear but everyone on the WL should assume this fact. You should completely move on in your head and heart away from a Yale acceptance.

@T26E4 I know I shouldn’t get my hopes up. I am completely prepared to go to the college where I have enrolled In fact, I have fallen in love with it… I am aware that waitlists are hard, but I did the best I could. I sent in updates and for what it’s worth, my regional counselor replied very kindly, several times.Yale is wonderful , and even though , as you said , 99.9% I won’t get in, I can always try for grad school :)
