Oh god how lame are the parents here?

platts i did not see any such thread.

It's the thread called "Hello?" in Parent's Forum.

Edit: Actually, it looks like it's been deleted since this morning...

It's the blasphemous parents pushing there kids to the brink that have made college admissions such a nightmare for everyone else, seriously, some kids aren't meant for crap like HYP some kids are better off going to the community college down the road, or the U a hundred miles away. I think parents need to shut the hell up after a certain point.

Not everyone wants to be at HYP, i know i didn't. The school i am going to is my harvard, i guess is what you could say.

I'm first generation as well.

I'm going to disagree just a little bit. I snoop around on the Parent's Forum a bit and see some really great advice given everyday. There are a few parents that go overboard, but I wouldn't generalize all of them to be that way. Most parents that I've encountered on this forum are pretty helpful actually.

is CC a hobby for them? dont they work? i swear to god like sometimes i think these parents are just moms whose husbands are doctors, CEOs, lawyers and they just stay home doing CC because their husbands and children are away.

Lmao!

Well, um, I haven't really seen a lot of their posts so I wouldn't know, but there seems to be some sort of those parents here.

what really annoys me when they have names like _Dad or _Mom, seriously make a screenname thats not based off your kid

Yea, I think the same thing. Like, there are some people on CC with over 1,000 posts. How can that be possible when you supposedly have a schedule with so many AP and honors classes and are the president of every single club at your school, and at the same time, are trying to increase your SAT score?

i'm glad my parents are technologically-handicapped...

shravas, your posts are over 1000.....

LOL i noticed the same thing lethargytm. hahahahah people are funny (:

yeah what the hell?

I was wondering about that too...

hm. what if the parent knows that the kid would want it later on, but is being a rebellious teenager now, and so forces the kid to do volunteering and ECs and such so the kid doesn't regret it later? does that count?

grade infalti0n-

No that doesn't count, infact had my mom pulled that crap i would have rebelled harder.

I was the teen that just didn't give a crap. I didn't want anything to do with school, i skipped most of my freshman year 2nd semester. I had a low GPA but I had to realize how much my stupid actions were costing me before i changed. Now i've graduated with honors, off to a great school in the fall, 1 of 50 from my school that applied, 1 of 3 that got accepted.

I've also learned life lessons from my mess ups, i think to each there own. No one learns by parental force. You learn by making mistakes.

CC parents are frightening. I mean, my folks pushed me pretty hard with admissions, but it was because they knew that I wanted it, but sometimes I needed a bit of a nudge to get working and such. My mom didn't get a CC account until after I was accepted to college... and this place honestly hasn't been quite as much fun since < _____ < hahaha. No, honestly, she's ok. I'm just grateful my parents were never like, "My daughter is a freshman, which classes and clubs should I make her do in highschool to get into HYPSM?"

lol. My parents didn't care about my college application process!

Post by obamabot: "what really annoys me when they have names like _Dad or _Mom, seriously make a screenname thats not based off your kid."

Seriously, then why do you have a screenname that's based off a presidential candidate? When parents have __dad or __mom they are just being proud parents, ridiculous as it is. I'm assuming b/c your screenname seems to be based off Obama, you must be proud of this presidential candidate? If so...kind of hypocritical, don't you think? :D
