Oh noooes.

I had a summer assignment for AP Gov - and it's supposed to be due on the first day of school (this Thursday) - however, my Gov teacher told one student in an email that it's going to be due in two weeks (despite the fact that it says the first day on the rubric). The kid tweeted a screen cap of the email and now everyone is like "aw yeah turn up" but I don't know if I should go by that email or if I should just finish it up, assuming its really due on Thursday.

Thoughts?

btw, he only sent that one kid an email because the kid was like "hey is xyz right?" and the teacher said "yeah, thats right. also, the assignment is due September 14th"

It’s always wise to do assignments asap, but I think a little procrastination should be fine in your case.

You ask a lot of questions.

I supposed emailing the teacher would be blasphemy.

I know. I go on like week/month long breaks from CC, and then log on and go on a huge question asking bender. Its how I regulate my addiction.

I was considering emailing the teacher, but emailing him about the due date this late in the summer would insinuate that my assignment isn’t done… (it isn’t) but that would make a terrible first impression. Feels me?

I don’t think he cares.

But the thing is, I did a law-type internship a few years back, and he was my supervisor, and he, along with all of the other AP history teachers at my school, regard me as a very studious, hardworking student - not the type that would put off an entire assignment for two and a half months…

Its just really important that I make a good first impression.

I REALLY don’t think he cares.

I don’t want to potentially make a bad impression on the off chance that he doesn’t care - I’m just going to do it based on the given due date, and if it isn’t due until mid-September, then I guess I’ll just have time to relax.

If you’re just going to do what you wanted to, what’s the point of asking?

Because the only advice I was given was to email him, and I explained that I couldn’t do that… So it’s not like I’m going to blindly follow the only thing I was told to do, especially when I can’t actually do it… So all that I can do is make a decision for myself.

I’d just finish the assignment early to get it over with and not worry about it later.

@letmeseetheworld - Yeah, that’s what I’ll probably end up doing.

Plus you’ll be good with whatever the due date is.

Haha yeah, I don’t want to be blindsided if he says on the first day of school, “oh, turn in your assignment” and I have squat.

Honestly you have three options.

Do it.

Don’t do it like everyone else. (If no one else does it, no one gets in trouble.)

Ask your teacher.

Also, you’re overvaluing the importance of a first impression especially since you already know the guy. Sheesh, you overthink things too much.

Just do the assignment now; that way if it’s actually due Thursday, you’ll be prepared to turn it in on time, and if it’s due the 14th, you’d have the assignment done well in advance, and wouldn’t have to worry about it.
