you got waitlisted at USC too?

no i havent heard from USC yet, but if i didnt get into occidental, i probably have a pretty slim chance of getting into USC...

Does anyone know the chances of getting in from the wait-list? Occidental is my first choice school and i dunno what to do...

ok i got into oxy but am not going. if i told them im not going , like sooner rather than later, does that help you waitlistees?

hahahahaha i dont care anymore b/c i got into USC!!!!!

yes it would def help if everyone who doesnt want to go confirms that sooner or later. thanks everyone!

hopeimnotrejected did you just get your USC acceptance letter? what are your stats?

yes i did! 3.5 uw GPA/2100 SAT I...nothing special about my app either! and i got into Marshall!!! how did this happen? who knows...but at this pt i dont really care either!

i was very close to applying USC, but decided not to. now i wonder...what if i did?

how many ppl on the waitlist asked to remain on the waiting list?

has anyone from the waitlist heard yet????????

My D's friend, who was waitlisted, said she was notified last Thursday that there was a spot for her. I figured if they were already going to the waitlist on May 4 that their yield must be down. Yikesss, you should call the Admissions Office to check on your status.

Thank you for the advice. I called yesterday but noone was available to talk so I left a message but I have no response yet. DO you think I should call again? This waiting is really killing me

I would call again, or you could have your school counselor call. If you know the name of the admissions rep for your school/area, you could email them directly and ask.

It is really hard to wait. I hope you hear some good news soon!

Oxy was my D's dream school -- not sure why she didn't get in, but very surprised she wasn't even waitlisted. She was waitlisted at Kenyon, which is definitely more selective than Oxy. She is going to Whitman.

yea i think oxy was realllly selective this year because I know its popularity is going up. I was surprised when I didn't get in either...I called the admissions office again today and left another message and a guy called me back saying they have started notifying people already but that they are not done yet...I don't really know what that means... is your D's frfiend who got in from the waitlist going to accept? Congrats on Whitman for your D! That's exciting, I have a friend who chose Whitman over Oxy because she got into both.

My D's friend is going to go to Davis. She might have chosen Oxy if she had been admitted regularly... but it seems like once she made the decision to go to UCD she was happy with her choice and didn't want to switch. I don't think she was as crazy about Oxy as my D was.

They are probably moving slowly down the wait list, trying to figure out who is actually going to accept before they make more offers. A lot of kids who ask to be put on the wait list will say no. Do you have any idea if the wait list is ranked?

If you haven't already sent a letter about how much you want to attend, that's always a good idea. As is having your counselor call to say the same thing. Continue to check back. I think they keep track of contacts. Sometimes the decision may come down to which students appear to want to go the most, and whose name is more familiar.

yea I wrote a letter and my counselor called to put in a good word for me so it's kind of dissapointing that they haven't notified me yet...I guess I just have to wait longer and see but its frustrating to wait of course, I guess I have to no choice but to wait at this point.
