I go to a private catholic school in ohio with a 4.3 grading scale. For example, 90%= 3.3, hopefully this makes up for the lower end GPA?

I may have asked this before and I don’t wanna feel like a tool, but how are my chances looking guys?

I think you have a pretty good shot of getting in. Being a urm really does help to be honest. May I ask what day you sent your application out? My status is taking forever to finish :/

I hope you get the bump for URM. I think you may need it, even with the GPA recalculation. OSU Columbus is getting super tough on admissions. Good luck though! Hey if worse comes to worse you can always do Mansfield for a year and then transfer over. Alot of people from my daughter’s high school are doing this. 10 appplied, 3 got in to Columbus, 2 rejected and didn’t go to OSU satellite campus, and 5 went to Mansfield. :)

@agnijay I know but they’re saying they dont have my transcript and prep forms which were sent out over a month ago. I called and they said they had them, but the status is still incomplete @OSUBuck I really do think you have a chance. Your GPA is slightly on the lower end but mines no better. Besides that everything else is legit. They shouldn’t deny you because of one little factor!

Ohio mom, what were the 2 students like that got in? My D has 28 act but a cum…4.0 gpa uw and ranked #1. I am torn. In one way, because of geographical location and because there us only one other girl with a higher act applying to osu I think her chances are good. But then I see her act is just 28 and that scares me. I know last year, our hs val with a 23! Act got in… and was morrill scholar…she is a white girl from a well off family too.

mspearl~
I don’t have any more specific info on the students who got in. I was only told this info by our guidance office. I know who they are but of course don’t know their exact stats, EC’s, etc. Sorry I can’t be of more help. But with what you have said, I think your daughter will be fine! :)

agnijay, OSU’s official position is that they start sending out decisions after December 1, but in reality, they may send out decisions sooner. The class of 2014 started finding out decisions in mid-November 2009. My daughter is a freshman this year, and she found out she was admitted to OSU on 11/10/10, after submitting her application on October 31. (And by “found out,” I mean her online status changed to admitted on November 10. The letter followed a few days later.) So while no one should count on hearing prior to December 1, OSU has in the past two years started notifying people that they were admitted in mid-November.
