I am currently considering Ohio State Columbus (main campus) on my college list, and have heard that it isn’t in the heart of Columbus, but is considered more of an "urban"college town compared to other schools. Is this true? How is the campus feel affected by this?
It’s definitely still an urban campus, although not in the heart the college itself is big enough to be its own hub just slightly off set from Columbus.
I don’t consider tOSU to be an urban campus. It is close to the downtown area of Columbus but not in it. Bordering campus are primarily residential areas.
I don’t consider it an urban campus either. Its very close to an urban area, but not in the middle of one. Also, the urban area its near is a small city, and not like NYC, Chicago, or Boston, so I guess its all relative to what you are used to.
I would say it’s in an urban setting but it has a defined campus. Unlike some urban campuses, Ohio State has lots of green spaces and when you are on campus, you feel like you are on the campus of a large university.
wild_bill27 my daughter had tOSU on her list because tOSU offered the academic program she wanted to pursue… It really wasn’t even in her top 5. We are out of state and this was the last school on her list we visited after she received her acceptances. The tOSU vibe is what sold her immediately. You have to visit to get the vibe. Descriptions don’t do it justice. She’s now a successful junior with a dual major, Bio scholars program and a sorority to boot. I’m thankful we took the visit because she is so happy here.
