Ohio State (College of Arts and Sciences) vs. Ohio University (Honors Tutorial College)

Congratulations! It’s a wonderfully exciting feeling, so do enjoy it. All I’ll say is that it’s a challenging program with great opportunities. I know I just started my first history-oriented internship, and I’ve got more potential internships/programs I’m applying to for this upcoming summer because of HTC. I wish her luck in making a decision; it’s really hard! I had plenty of sleepless nights, but ultimately listened to my gut. Don’t be afraid to reach out if you all have questions about the campus, finances, or the program! Congrats again

hi! My son was accepted into both Oberlin College and OU’s HTC and plans to emphasize creative writing. I’ve been trying to find out what kinds of classes there are at OU in creative writing and if the professors are good–from what I can tell the courses sound kind of bland. My son may actually want to do playwriting and it looks like those courses are only available for Theater majors? Anything you can tell me about specifics of the quality of the creative writing at OU would be helpful. thanks!

What did you end up doing? My son is trying to decide between HTC for creative writing and Oberlin College. He’s very interested in creative writing but isn’t completely sure that should be his major. . .it also seems like the classes at HTC in creative writing aren’t that interesting (from what I can tell from the course catalog for the university)—did you find them generic?
