Ohio State or IU Bloomington for BS Computer Science? class of 2024

My Son has been admitted to both schools and the OOS cost of attendance is going to be the same. Can someone let me know which one has a better computer science program and college life? My Son wants to attend OSU and I prefer the program at IU. Thanks!

OSU is ranked higher than Indiana in Computer Science and as a school. Sometimes is not always about the rankings, but it can come down to Financials and fit. In this case, it seems that financials are not an issue. So if your son prefers OSU, then it is the better-known school for this major. Is there a reason you prefer IU vs OSU or why he prefers OSU vs IU?

Since the financials are not the issue (same cost), it is your son’s decision, not yours. I have a daughter at Ohio State and she loves the school and the social climate. Nothing beats game day…

I think it really depends on if you want college town vs. larger city environment…OSU is awesome school.

Both great schools, and in some ways, similar. I’m an IU grad and live near OSU. Both have great social scenes. IU has beautiful Greek residential houses that blow OSUs away, if Greek life is an interest maybe that could be a way to decide. Or if your son prefers basketball games (IU) to football games (OSU), but both will have a big sports experience for all sports. OSU does have a better nationwide reputation with the exception of a couple of majors at IU like business and music. OSU is more urban and the bigger city, and all that goes with that like other sports, concerts, lots of companies for internships; IU is small college town which also has its advantages.

If your son wants OSU, it is a great school. Both are.
