Ohio State or Pitt?

I’ve gotten into Pitt, and I have also been sent a letter from Ohio State hinting that I was accepted. I am very excited about both schools, and honestly, if I don’t get into one of my top 3 choices, I don’t know how to decide between the two (No offense to you guys, I think its a great school, otherwise I wouldn’t have applied.) I think I’m leaning a bit towards Pitt, but I could easily swing back. Why should I go here instead of Pitt (or for that matter Texas, Wisconsin or Washington)?

I’ve applied to big schools in major cities, with good political science programs, that are something of a ‘party-academic school.’ so yeah.

Thanks, don’t be offended or anything because I’m still really excited at the prospect of going to OSU, but I really don’t know if I should.

I’d go with the following schools in the oder listed:

 1. Wisconsin
 2. Texas
 3. Washington
 4. Ohio State
 5. Pitt

Great selection of top public universities. You can’t go wrong with any on your list. You’ll get a great education and have a great time at every one on your list. I’d narrow it down by looking for two things:

First, how well each school fits you (culture, student body, location etc.). This is something that only you can truly answer.

Second, the quality of their political science departments. Here are some rankings:

USN&WR
Wisconsin 15
Ohio State 17
Texas 21
Washington 26
Pitt 39

The recently released NRC rankings (generally the most respected within academia)
Ohio State 7
Wisconsin 10
Pitt 10
Washington 17
Texas 23
