Ohio State University Class of 2011 - Best Class Ever?

As most of you probably know from experience, this year has been quite possibly the most competitive ever for college applications. With most colleges receiving a record number of applications, it has become extremely difficult to get into many private schools, especially the Ivy League schools. As many top students are getting rejected from elite private schools, they are realizing that OSU is actually a really great school. A lot of the top students from my class will probably be going to OSU, so it will basically be an Ivy League school itself. If this trend continues, OSU will soon be on par academically with the University of Michigan.

hpefully my friend, because next year, I will be at OSU!!!!!!!!!!! from psu to OSU! they better have a good engineering program.

Is the campus beautiful?

The campus is ok, nice to walk around but not breathtaking. Lots of stuff to do around campus, which is a plus.

teenie, how are the computers and the furniture? Are some classrooms "luxurious"?

funny you say that... I think there are like 6 top 20ers at my high school going to OSU next year...I was thinking the same thing.

OSU's acceptance rate dropped to 56% this year from 65% according to today's Columbus Dispatch.

56%! Wow
And you've got to figure only kids who thought they had a decent chance of getting in bothered to apply...

The declining acceptance rates are prevelant at all schools, mostly due to the increasing population of applicants, which will peak next year. I do agree however that Ohio State is definitly making a concerted effort to imporve its overall academic reputation. I forget when they started this effort, but they have been at it for some time now, and they are definitly doing a great job. I don't know how long it will take but eventually, I do believe they will be on par academically with the University of Michigan (their initial goal was to improve academically so they could compete with Michigan in academics, just as they do in athletics)
