Ohio State University OR Rutgers for Computer Science? (Transfer Student)?
I got into both schools. For Ohio State I got accepted into the Ohio state exploration program ( which is a undecided major for the first semester and I declare any science later on) Ohio State said I could declare still take the CS courses and declare CS after one quarter. ( I talked about being interested in many STEM subjects in my essay, was a Biology major initially).
I think both are very strong state flagships.
Best bet. Is to follow the money and attend the most affordable.
If the same. Go to fit.
Which is most attractive to you in all the small but important ways? .
Campus. Sports. Socially. Dorms. Location.
If all the same. Try the old tee shirt or sweatshirt experiment. Wear one from each school a few different days in your every day life. School and outside of school. Which makes you feel the extra spring in your step. Or more excited when friends and others inquire or ask questions. That excitement when all things are equal might lead to more enthusiasm and translate into a better experience. But this is clearly not scientific !
At tOSU, how competitive is declaring the CS major after entering as exploring?
For computer science and information systems at OSU. Minimum 15 credit hours and a few required classes.
CHPR is cum. MHPR is cum in the required courses.
CPHR is 3.2 or higher and MPHR is 2.0 or higher OR
CPHR is 3.0 to 3.199 and MPHR is 3.2 or higher after taking CSE 2221, 2231, and 2321.
You will need a 3.2 gpa atleast to declare CS. Luckily my Community college gpa resets when i transfer
I like both schools, I feel that Ohio state has a better campus with nicer gyms and dining halls. But I do like that i am guareenteed into CS at rutgers
Ohio State is also a bit better in CS
Unless Rutgers is much more expensive, it looks like a safer choice if there are no additional (grade/GPA) barriers to getting into your desired major.
