I have been admitted to these two schools to major in psychology pre-law program and now i am having trouble deciding. Any advice or things to consider would be expected. Ohio state is less expensive but the size is a bit scary. Baylor’s size is great but so much more expensive. I ope tp be able to make a road trip to both in March to help with the decision.
My son also got admitted to both Ohio State and Baylor, among several others private and public schools in the top 100. He is a business major and will likely go to law school afterwards (I’m in the legal profession). College is very much an individual decision, but for him, Ohio State was the clear choice. Even though he got a larger merit scholarship from Baylor, the bottom line tuition/fees was lower at Ohio State because overall tuition is lower there. Not to mention that Baylor’s tuition goes up around $4,000 to $5,000 each year, while his scholarship would not increase over his 4 years. Reputation wise, the Ohio State brand has more prestige than Baylor. Columbus has much more to offer than Waco. My son wanted a school that has a very strong sports program, so advantage Ohio State for that as well. In summary, Ohio State beat out Baylor in every category.
I have a D18 at Baylor but my S22 who is still in high school will probably apply to Ohio State. Both great schools, but very different. I don’t dispute anything that @Watch37 stated. Baylor is expensive, Waco is a very basic college town. For us it came down to fit, and the size and vibe worked best for my D. Ohio State may work better for my S. Go visit both schools and see what fits you. Congrats on your acceptances!
