is Haverford your top choice? If not, what other schools are you still considering/waiting to hear from?

Haverford is one of my top choices. I am still waiting to hear from Amherst and Skidmore. As right now, I am glad to know more about Haverford. I always liked the opportunity to take courses at Bryn Mawr, Swathmore and UPenn. I thought Vassar was for me, but now I see that it isn't for me. So as soon as I have all the notices from all the colleges that I applied, I have to start making a final decision. I want to concentrate in economics, and I know that it is one of the most popular majors at H.
I see that you are a soccer recruit. That is wonderful! I will join the tennis team and, probably, the rugby club. I still have to hear if I am going to receive any financial aid.
Is H your top choice? What other schools are you looking foward to attending?

Yale is my top choice, but aside from that, Haverford and a bunch of schools are sort of tied at second choice. I also got into Vassar and Oberlin, and I might prefer Vassar to Haverford but I have to visit them all again and see.

haverford is one of my top choices.. i'm still waiting to hear from swarthmore, amherst, tufts, and 6 ivies(HYP, penn, dartmouth, cornell). i got into the honors program at BC. It's very possible that I'll go to Haverford, though if I get into Swat or Amherst then I would consider those as well. The only ivy I would go to is Penn. Even then I'd probably choose Haverford over it. Don't worry about Vassar too much.. Haverford's a bit better I think, anyway. (No offense to anyone!).. How big would the freshman class size be approximately?

This year over 3000 students applied to HC, so my guess is that around 300 students will make the freshman class.

Definitely, my first and only choice (Accepted ED). Anarock, how did you know that 3000 students applied to HC this year?

I think the college is aiming for a class of 313.

Haverford is definitely my first choice and I'm 99% sure I'll be there in the fall (even though I still have to hear from 3 colleges). I'll probably be going to the accepted students weekend in April too.

is everyone sleeping over the 16th?

I will probably be going to Haverford on the 16th....still waiting to hear from Amherst, Princeton, and Vanderbilt. So far I've been accepted at W&L, UVA, Kenyon, Denison, Sewanee, and Boston College, have been wailtlisted at Emory and Williams, and rejected at Harvard and Yale.

what's your preference in order?

I think Haverford is my top choice. I also got into Swarthmore, Smith, University of Delaware, Johns Hopkins, Princeton, and Cornell. So far, most of the things I've heard about Haverford have been good things, so that makes me excited and helps me try and make my decisions.

I hope to show up on the 16th too...if I can.

kitty - why haverford over swarthmore? that's my natural instinct, as well. i'm 95% sure i'll be going to haverford, but i need to make a definite decision not to remain on the swat alternate list

The minute I stepped onto the Swarthmore campus, the sky turned gray and it started pouring down rain.

But, stories aside, I think that when I visited, most of the people at Haverford were friendlier and more community-oriented (something I think is important). Also, I think that though both schools have kids who study a lot, it seems to be more laid back/less overwhelming at Haverford. There might be some more things but I can't recall them at the moment. There is a different vibe on the two campuses, so I'd suggest visiting both and seeing which one you like better. For me, I think I'm 98% sure that I like Haverford better. (Though I do love the outdoor arena thingy with the grass growing in it at Swarthmore---it's something I'd love to try and paint someday :))

Hope that helps...

I think Haverford is beyong good, and I will be there on the 16th. A lot of people the campus is small, but the community is nice. I am definitely going to be part of the class of 2009. I just hope the school to be generous with the financial aid. But at the end, I think that I would go no matter what. I like HC a lot!! And just think that if you go to HC, you will be like part of tri-co (you will be involved w/ swats and brynmawrs)

See you soon for the ones who decide to become 'Fords

I am 80% sure I ll be going to Haverford. But really hard to say NO to MIT.

I am leaning toward Haverford at the moment but I can't help but think about Cornell and also U of R and Darthmouth. right now I am confused and I need to make a decision fast.

I know what it feels like to be confused...that's sort of where I'm at right now. I'm leaning a lot towards Haverford but still swaying back and forth among a few of my choices...it's a bit frustrating, actually.

think about the name... MIT = jobs later on. Ivy like cornell and darmouth = jobs in the future and open windows and avenues. Pick a school more than just what it has to offer in 4 year but what it will bring you in 30 years, too.
