Ok so time for applications is running out.

So far I've applied to
-USC
-UF
-College of Charleston
-Georgetown
-Tulane
-University of Colorado
-University of Miami

I want a school with a beautiful campus, good facilities, fun social life, cool students, and in an awesome town with alot to do.

I love sports and music as well, so I would love a thriving scene/ a place with lots of culture.

I'm also thinking of applying to
-University of Oregon
-University of San Diego
-Pitzer
-UGA
-GWU
-SMU (app fee waived, sister went here)

As I said I have a 3.76 WEIGHTED GPA, and a 2100SAT, with Varsity Lacrosse, and other good ECs as well as great recs and a very tough course load (coming from top 10 HS in FL)

I love the idea of going out west, and being in a different environment, yet I see myself feeling sort of out of place without a beach/the coast fairly close by. I do love to surf, so I would not mind being able to occasionally get in the water wherever I may be.

Please let me know what you guys think, and please help me out on my search, I'm so overwhelmed and this is one of the biggest decisions of my life, I don't want to mess it up.

Your list of schools already applied to looks fine. Colorado seems perfect for you and you’re almost certain to get accepted. If you absolutely must have the ocean, then also apply to Pitzer & U of San Diego. Have you looked at Occidental?

If you like Colorado and are open to an outside-the-box box possibility, consider Colorado College. It’s much smaller and much more selective than UC Boulder but your qualifications are still within range (looks like a “high match” for you). Boulder would be exciting (one of the coolest college towns anywhere); if you’re after a Rocky Mountain adventure, CC fits your qualifications better. Think of the Rocky Mountains as a vertical beach.

Do you plan to visit these colleges after you are accepted and before you decided which college to attend? If you have the time and the means to apply and then visit California, Oregon, Colorado, etc. then you haven’t much to lose by adding new colleges to your list.

Otherwise, you’ve got great choices on your list now. You’ve done your “due diligence.” You haven’t messed up in any way. Yes, there are always other possibilies out there but at some point, you’ll have to stop and say, “I’m good with these choices.”

And M2CK’s question about finanical safety is really important because you will have to add additional travel expenses to those west coast/midwest schools.

I’m intrigued that you’re thinking of applying to both UGA and Pitzer. I can’t think of two schools in America that could have less in common. I can’t even come up with a factor that would include both in the same sentence (as in “I’m looking for [blank] in a college experience, so I’m considering Pitzer and UGA.”). What’s behind your attraction to them?
