I'm interested in all these things, but I haven't really narrowed it down to exactly what I want to do.

Basically, I live in FL and go to a top 10 nationally ranked gifted school so my course load is very tough. All my classes are Honors and APs and by the time I graduate I'll have taken 5 APs.

I want a school that has a beautiful campus, good music scene/town around it, and offers me some sort of waves.

My stats are 3.75 Weighted GPA and 2070 (580R 740M 750W, hope to get reading up around 640)

Varsity Lacrosse, and Various Community Service and other ECs.

Let me know your suggestions!

Check out Tulane University. Also I would look at University of Virginia, assuming you improve your CR slightly, but UVA might be a bit too far inland for your taste.

UVA seems amazing, I never thought I really had much of a shot there!

How about somewhere like USC?

Or do I have a shot at NYU?

USC is a little bit of a reach for you. Any Bay Area school would fit those tastes, as well as San Diego and possibly Los Angeles. Consider Seattle or Portland as well: they all have fantastic cultural atmosphere.

But what decent schools are in the bay area?

I mean I know there’s UCSC and Berkley, but I don’t think I really have a shot at Berkley.
USF isn’t that great of a school…

Stanford and Davis. I would think Davis would be a better option for you than Stanford, seeing as Berkeley is up there for you. It never hurts to try, though!

hmmm

maybe UCSC?

I’m not really sure what schools out in Cali I’d be interested in.

Hmmm…do you want a LARGE school, or are LACs more your taste?

I used to think I wanted a smaller school like 5k kids or so, but now I’m starting to think a bigger school might offer more what I’m looking for…

My options are open, just depends on the specific school I guess.

Well, there are a lot of schools out there, and you don’t seem closed to options. Just survey all the pamphlets you get in the mail, and when you see something interesting look it up. Good luck!

so UGA, Pepperdine, USC, NYU probably, maybe UCSC?

any other suggestions?

I agree, look into Pepperdine. You’ve got Waves (our mascot lol) across the street, music scene in Hollywood 20 minutes away, rated one of the best campuses nationwide , and our academics aren’t too shabby either ;]

UCSD instead of UCSC

Pepperdine is gorgeous, too.

I hear you have to be pretty rich to go to a UC or California private OOS, just something to keep in mind. UCSB, UCSD, UCLA pepperdine, and the claremont consortium schools are all in beautiful areas

You don’t have to be rich at all.

I don’t like the area around the Claremont colleges at all. It’s boring and pretty far from any beach.
