Is there any possible penalty for attending a different lecture section from what one has signed up for? Thanks!

There shouldn’t be. I took it this past semester and I kept jumping between the 9 am and 4:30 pm one trying to get a feel of which works better. I was officially registered for 9am. The only difference might be the professor that’s teaching but both are good.

Thanks, @decoy51

My D’s Calc3 instructor was so bad that she has been going to a different class for the last couple months.

It’s great that your D could do that. Some of the multi-section-lecture classes take attendance via iClicker, etc, so it could be risky to not be attending one’s own section.

Some do use iClicker. I know some engineering students only watch the class video over the internet instead of going to the class.

@billcsho, do you happen to know the list (or pattern) of multi-section-lecture classes that use iClicker (or takes attendance in other ways, such as pop quizzes, etc)? I’d like to think it’s mainly for 100-level courses, but I’m not too sure. So far, my S only had use for the iClicker in a couple of 100-level courses, but never in 200-level and above (or perhaps not yet?)

@parentOf2018 I actually don’t know. My D actually did not even have an iClicker until last night. She does not have much 100-level courses anyway except for ENGR100 and 101 due to AP credits. So far the only class that requires iClicker for her is Chem 216 lab. So it may be required in some 200-level classes.

I’m a bit late here but there should be no problem with this. I’ve never heard of 281 using an iClicker unless they added that recently.
I’ll also add, no class I took ever had an iClicker, and I made no effort to avoid one, it just never happened. I’m not sure which classes do but I don’t think it’s many.
Thanks, @Vladenschlutte!
