Ok..... typo?

All right, I just found one in my common app essay. Yes, I have done a forum search and it didn't really help me.

Basically, here's the line ".... to an audience, which ranged from a group of from Australia to the brother of a famous Indian cricket player..."

There should be a "kids" inserted in there that must've accidently gotten deleted while the word document was up.

So, my question: how badly will this hurt for ivys/top universities. Has anyone ever done something like this (typo) and still been accepted? Am I getting paranoid :P?

As far as I know, it's the only mistake in my essays.

Thanks

don't worry, it'll be fine.

All righty, but despite how much I tell myself not to worry, I still do...... lol

It was such a stupid set of circumstances. I CAUGHT this typo and updated it in the word file. But the common app wouldn't let me upload word files, so I had to convert them all to PDFs. I forgot to update the PDF when I fixed it on the word document. Then, I got caught up in the other stuff and accidently uploaded the older PDF. I thought I read over the print previews millions of times but still of course missed it

I've sent out emails to all the undergrad admissions office explaining what happened, all except: Duke, Harvard, NYU...... I can't seem to find emails for the admissions office. Does anyone know them?

Also, I remember geek_mom posted a link to a thread where it said it may be better to snail mail this info in. Should I do this instead (as well)? Print out a copy of the CORRECT version, write a short note explaining what happened, and attach my name/common app ID?

Thanks

If you think it will help your application in the slightest, then do it.
Not wishing any bad luck on you or anything (fellow Aussie here!), but if you get rejected from one of them, you'll be wondering what might have happened if you had sent it in.

So yeah, if you think it'd help, then send it in.

Astonisher... one omitted word? No way are you going to get rejected over a word omitted from an essay. I had to read the sentence twice just to realize there was a problem with it. Get some sleep, kiddo!
