Ok so heres the deal, i got accepted to fsu on march 18th, but recently dropped one of my duel enrollment classes....and also had good reason to drop the course, in was interfering with my Nursing Examination Study which i will be taking April. i currently have 2 A's in college composition 1 and 2, and a unsavory C in Preperation for college Success on my Duel Enrollment Transcript so my question is, will this have any effect on my final admission decision into fsu? Should i worry about this? btw 3.4 fsu GPA 1700 SAT 25 ACT

E-mail the admissions department about this.

Generally, only D’s and F’s are problems.

Yes, make sureeee you email admissions.
I desperately wanted to drop my statistics dual enrollment course this semester, and I called fsu admissions and they said if anything changes from what I put on my application, they have the right to re-evaluate my admittance.
It scared me, so dont wait until its too late to talk to them

i emailed them…what should i expect to here back?

1-2 days, normally

they said this…

Thank you for contacting us. Your senior schedule is an important component of your application. We consider a strong senior schedule to be five or more year-long academic courses. A strong senior schedule adds strength to your overall application. The information you provided regarding your senior schedule was used in your admission decision.
I have added a copy of this email to your application file. The Assistant Director will reconsider your application and will be in touch soon.

Because of my congested schedule. I was forced to drop my College Algebra course. The course conflicted with many mandatory classes in which i was enrolled in, including Algebra 1 Credit Lab, which is necessary for me to graduate, and my final nursing class, which i have to attend because classroom hours must be completed for full course credit. i am notifying you of this because no grade wade/credit was given for the course and instead a “W” has been given as my final grade. Please take notice of this on my final transcript.

do u think that i will get rejected

No, I don’t really think you will. I think you were WISE to have emailed them. They do review all files when final transcripts arrive. It would be scarier to receive an email during May or June stating that your file was going before committee and you had some explaining to do. If there are any previews left that you were going to attend, just make a visit to admissions and meet with an admissions counselor. Otherwise, if you don’t hear anything by orientation, make a beeline to admissions during an off time and just talk with someone.

It is alot easier to start FSU with college algebra already finished or exempt due to scores. But I really don’t think you will be recinded. Just keep your grades up for this final semester.

I digged through my old emails and found this. I had a similar problem, except I changed my schedule instead of dropping a course.

Vincent,
Thanks for letting us know of the change in your senior schedule. These changes will not affect your acceptance to Florida State University in any way.
Sincerely,
Amelia Mann

yo…i was jus talking to the admissions director and they said that i would have never been accepted if i wasnt taking the college algebra course, now that i dnt have it im unadmissable. she told me to right an appeal to the admission…what r my chances…especially with my situation…(read my email above)

On reviewing your posts I see that you are taking ALGEBRA I CREDIT LAB. Is this because you did not have credit fro HS Algebra? I can see that if you were taking a credit lab to rescue a credit for a graduation requirement that you had not passes or not taken previsously, that FSU could overlook that fact IF you came in with College Algebra credit. Now that you dropped it, it appears you may not meet basic requirements. Explain a little about your math classes in high school. Do you have/will you have 4 math classes when you graduate. 3 are the minimum, but FSU favors 4 or more math credits when granting acceptance.

the reason for me missing the algebra credit is due to the fact that in the eight grade…i moved from broward county to palm beach while still taking algebra…for some reason the credit didnt transfer…also it would be impossible for me to add another math because all my classes are, and have been completley directed toward nursing…which is mandatory for course completion

Then I would agree you have a problem.

Ouch. Almost same thing happened to me. I took Algebra out of state in 8th grade, and I didn’t even know I had not received credit for it until last year. I had to explain to them about it, and they finally gave me credit for it. It was an honors class, but they were so iffy that they just put it down as a normal class.

i honestly do not know what to do…i am so close to being rescined i can feel it. you all jus keep me in ur prayers n may the heavens be with me when i write my appeal.

well…i just wrote my appeal letter, pm me if u wanna proofread it…i have one quick question, where would i have been if i did not notify them of this, it seems that this is something i could have easily slid past them when final transcripts are sent out…

they would notice…

keep us posted.

im in…

yay!!!
