Okay, don't laugh at me...but...?!?!?!?!?

How horrible are these grades...?
Do you think these are bad grades for first year in college?

Environmental Science- A
Freshman Comp I- A
Freshman Comp II- A
Mythology- A
Speech- A
Intro. to business- B
Human Biology- B
U.S History to 1788- C
U.S Gov't- C
Pre-Algebra- W
Pre-Algebra- D
Pre-Algebra-B

*I did grade forgiveness for Pre-Algebra, so the D isn't calculated into the GPA, but the B is! :)

Do you think I should apply as a transfer to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities- Liberal Arts? I REALLY want to go there. And I've GOT TO GET OUT OF MY HOUSE. MAJOR FAMILY ISSUES. Will being in remedial class affect my chances? :( It's the liberal Arts dept. that I'm applying to...I'm not confident about that math course, do you think they'll still be able to let me slide? :( What can I do to persuade them...? Wouldn't the Pre-Algebra look like a typical freshman oops? lol, They require a minimum of 26 credits, and the requirement is a 2.5 GPA to transfer to their Liberal Arts program...i have about a 3.4/3.3 GPA, ...PLUS I did a campus visit...i don't know if that helps? I'm applying for the spring of next 2012
Thanks! :)

Do you think I'll get into the U of M-Twin Cities?

I feel like my grades are EXTREMELY poor. You have no idea what I am going through at home, and I've got to leave and flee

Do you think if I join Extracurricular and keep in touch with them, etc
:(

I'm at a community college, btw.

I’m an African-American male if that helps. lol

please, i really need help

They teach pre algebra in College? Most high schools don’t even teach that anymore

Well if that D doesn’t show up (excuse my rudeness but how do you get a D in pre algebra), then I guess you have an okay shot. I don’t think a campus visit makes a difference in your chances.

Your GPA overall is okay. If there’s some interview, I’m sure you can explain yourself. Good luck.

Seriously, just “okay”?? In all honesty, do I even come close to having a shot??

@bobtheboy, SCREW OFF. YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON IN MY LIFE AT THE MOMENT. Besides, I took Algebra II & I in High school and passed, so the pre-alg. crap is ridiculous.

You’re right, I shouldn’t have said that and I’m sorry. It was just that you did get A’s in other classes, so I wondered why you got a D in Pre Algebra, which seemed like your easiest one.
Also, if you finished Algebra 1 and 2, why are you taking pre algebra?
I already said you have a shot… also I don’t think joining extra curriculars would make a difference.

They said I have to take it, which is soooo stupid ( i believe they just want more $$$)…seriously, i have a HS diploma and JUST came right out of HS.
Thanks for the pep-talk

any more suggestions!? I have an amazing essay!

They require a minimum of 26 credits, and the requirement is a 2.5 GPA to transfer to their Liberal Arts program

HELP! Suggestions! thanks :)

looks pretty solid. Since it is pre Algebra I think you should continue to take mathematics. The reason I say this is because colleges look at how you improve over time. For example :

your math core:
Pre-Algebra- W
Pre-Algebra- D
Pre-Algebra-B
College Algebra -B
Precalculus -A
Calculus 1 -A
Calculus 2-A

you can go a little further so you can minor in math also. This way it will look like you overcame a struggle with mathematics.

all they require you to have is a 2.5 gpa with 26 credits. the average was about 3.1 of the ones that they accepted. but my question is, a lot of people are putting me down when it comes to my dream school, and i can’t seem to figure out why? They keep saying “You are never going to make it” You should drop out of college right now, because those grades are so bad and those classes are so easy!” Keep in mind that I am applying for the COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS. but it’s making me depressed because I’ve GOT TO LEAVE my house since there are a lot of depressing problems going on between my family and their situation. And NO I WILL NOT JOIN THE ARMY OR DO APPRENTICESHIPS/TRADE SCHOOL.

People are offering you input but you seem to be shooting them down.

If you want to leave, then leave. Nobody is telling you that you can’t.

@ Aerobug- That is FAR from TRUE.

:)

For the environment that you are describing, it seems like you had a very good first year. Apply and then see what happens. If you don’t make it, just try again at the end of next semester. Good luck!
