How horrible are these grades...?
Do you think these are bad grades for first year in college?

Environmental Science- A
Freshman Comp I- A
Freshman Comp II- A
Mythology- A
Speech- A
Intro. to business- B
Human Biology- B
U.S History to 1788- C
U.S Gov't- C
Pre-Algebra- W
Pre-Algebra- D
Pre-Algebra-B

*I did grade forgiveness for Pre-Algebra, so the D isn't calculated into the GPA, but the B is!

Do you think I should apply as a transfer to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities- Liberal Arts? I REALLY want to go there. And I've GOT TO GET OUT OF MY HOUSE. MAJOR FAMILY ISSUES. Will being in remedial class affect my chances? It's the liberal Arts dept. that I'm applying to...I'm not confident about that math course, do you think they'll still be able to let me slide? What can I do to persuade them...? Wouldn't the Pre-Algebra look like a typical freshman oops? lol, They require a minimum of 26 credits, and the requirement is a 2.5 GPA to transfer to their Liberal Arts program...i have about a 3.4/3.3 GPA, ...PLUS I did a campus visit...i don't know if that helps? I'm applying for the spring of next 2012
Thanks!

Do you think I'll get into the U of M-Twin Cities?

I feel like my grades are EXTREMELY poor. You have no idea what I am going through at home, and I've got to leave and flee. Is it possible that you can tell the admission staff that you are going through horrible circumstances at home in your essay? idk, just opinions! Thanks

Do you think if I join Extracurricular and keep in touch with them, etc

I'm at a community college and of Ethiopian Heritage, btw.

anyone? pleasseee, i really need help

I’m not familiar with U of M, but judging from their typcial transfer student profile, you certainly seem to have a good shot at it

[Transfer Academic Profile](Transfer Admission Information by College | Office of Admissions)

I wonder though about your home situation. Are you sure you’ll do better awy from that turmoil, whatever it is? Or are you running away from something that ultimately you cannot escape? Going to any school for nonacademic reasons can sometimes be a huge mistake. You think a change of scenery will help resolve your issues, but the change has nothing to do with them and they’re still there. Only you know whether that’s the case for you, so I hope you choose wisely.

^ yeah you should take a look at their transfer profile…since you want to go to CLA you definitely want to bring up your gpa to a 3.0+ your chances would even be better with a 3.5+. Which CC do you go to btw? I know that CCs like MCTC, Inver, Normandale have articulation agreements with the UMN-TC. So if you take all of the required courses (40 credits) and get their required min gpa then you have automatic admission! (MNCap)

Even if you didn’t complete all the required courses ou could always give it a shot! their deadline is June 1…but you missed their priority date on March 1 your gpa is 3.3+ so you have a decent shot for suuure!

I want to transfer to UMN-TC CLA as well…and im east african too! hollaaa! Good Luck! :)
