I just feel like i have to go somewhere...somewhere new..meet new people...interact. I feel really bored with my life at home and i want to do something new this summer. I already managed an internship at my congressman's office, but i feel like doing something else.

I want an experience away from home...just a few days. I want to meet more INDIANS (lol...welll that is a bit exclusive isnt it!). It's true though, i feel the need to interact with my culture more. Idk how to explain it...maybe someone can help.

Clearly, many, actually most deadlines have passed, but any advice?

Why not just convince your family to take a trip to India? The only alternative option is to pay a ridiculous amount of money to attend a short summer abroad program by yourself. Since most of the high school summer abroad programs are profit organizations, I wouldn't bother.

Good heavens, REALLY not all families can afford There Will Be Dragons

hardworker,
What grade are you going into and what subjects do you like?
and how far away from Chicago do you want to go?

MidwestMom -- yay ur from the midwest like me! I am going to be a junior next year and unlike typical indians, im not completely crazy about science/math, but I dont mind them either. If I was given a choice to choose...it would definitely be the humanities for me!

Midwestmom- sorry, forgot to answer ur last question. I can go anywhere, just not outside the US as the airfare tickets and such would not workout...otherwise I would just fly to India! haha. But, im open to many options within the US.

You sound like you have some suggestions....please tell!

Is there any Indian temples near your area?
Maybe you can get some more information from there.
Sometimes they have summer camps or lessons and you can get a job there.

so I know that this isnt Indian-exclusive, but a few summers ago I did the northwetern ctd summer program, and there were a ton! of Indians. I bet the deadline has already passed but if you could commute and if you qualify, they may have class openings... and if you call them you could maybe snag a spot. They have a ton of course offerings and they are three weeks long
