I don't understand why you are making her disability a big deal. Look, she is doing FINE. If she wants to go to Harvard, hooray for her. If she wants to go to a clown school, hooray for her too. She can decide where to go, and it is not your job to tell her not to go to good schools. Just don't say anything bad.

i didnt, im simply saying harvard is a huge ass reach and probably not at all realistic given her EC's and stats

Frequency43, I want to say thanks for supporting me. You know what? I don't care what you guys say. I will just do my best and improve SAT. I will apply to colleges, and then decide where to go. If I get accepted, great. If I don't, that's okay-because Admission officers know whether or not I can make it in their schools. If I can make it in X college, I get accepted-great. If X college is too hard, then I get rejected- that's okay. By the way, frequency, I would appreciate more if you stop defending me. Its kinda bothers me.

One more thing and I am finished. There are seveal disabled students at highly ranked colleges. A deaf hockey goalie at Princeton, another one at Duke, a blind girl with serious medical condition (i forgot) at Harvard, a hard of hearing person at Princeton, and someone with serious medical condition (dyslexia i think) at Yale. They can do it, despite their disabilities. You will say because of their high stats. Well, no offense, but I know a deaf hockey goalie at Princeton doesn't have stellar stats (he quoted that it was below average than Princeton's applicants). It just offends me that someone comes in and says "you are not good enough". Everyone here has a chance, but not a guranteed admission. There is a difference.

didnt u join this board to hear opinions...im giving u realistic opinions, i think u should make a more reasonable list...if not ok it wont make any difference to me.

Im not losing or gaining anything by telling u this, why would i be giving u bad advice???

confused:
Reading your post I would say that you have a good chance. Your research experience and your Habitat Humantity experience are definitely impressive. I think however, you can definitely improve your SAT. Best of luck, I hope you make it!

i agree everyone has a chance...and unlike u, im not referring to her as an individual who is disabled...i think that is totally besides the point because shes been a mainstream student for years. Shes a student, just like me and you.

fact is, and i think u can agree...there are too many big reach schools on her list...in my opinion of couse...if it was me, id keep like 1 or 2 big reaches and replace them with 2 matches. If money isnt an issue...keep all the schools you have but just add more matches

i really dont understand why my post is causing such a problem with frequency.

Doogie, I am not mad at you at all. I did join this board to hear opinions, and after I posted this thread, I just realized that nobody know admission offices, and that their opinions are misinformed. But, I appreciate your honest opinions. I just wanted to answer your questions (why I should go to elite colleges and why I believe I will be successful). Honestly, I am happy that you asked me those because you made me think: Why do I want to go to elite colleges where many freshman are competing highly against each other for top grades? After thinking for a while, I understood myself a little bit more and belived that I do have potential to do well in colleges. I don't expect that I will maintain 4.0 in Harvard, Princeton, Yale, whatever. But, I do expect from myself that I will do my best and advocate for myself.

lol, yes, it is a funny thing between you and frequency.

um, I am adding matches to my list. actually, recently, after i posted this thread, my father and i sat down and made a list of colleges i will apply. we do have a balance of reaches and matches and a few safeties.

that answer is completely acceptable to me, and i do feel that if u try anywhere u will do well

good luck in ur future endeavours
