Honors Physics
Debate 4

I will have 11 AP classes completed by the time I graduate.

ECs

I am the only sophomore to take Debate 2 and I compete in many regional tournaments.

I am an officer without a name in our school’s HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) Club (I joined this year but I attend all of the officer meetings and help plan fundraisers, etc). I will be Treasurer next year. I also placed Top 10 in 2 events at HOSA States a few weeks ago.

I am the Public Relations Director for our school’s Diversity Club.

My friends and I started a club called Student Humanitarian Organization this year, which raises money to donate to countries hit by natural disasters. I am Secretary of this club and will be President Senior Year as my friends are juniors now.

Volunteered 50+ hours at the Morrison YMCA the past 2 summers. I am part of our school’s community service award program which requires members to complete 25+ hours of community service per year.

I am volunteering 50+ hours this summer at Carolina’s Medical Center, the major hospital in our area.

I am doing an internship with a neurologist this summer for almost 130 hours.

I help my Spanish teacher tutor my peers after school 2-3 times a week.

I have recently been inducted into our school’s Spanish Honor Society.

I will be in our school’s National Honor Society next year.

I am pretty athletic, but I don’t play sports competitively as I am focusing on school first.

I did bhangra, and Indian dance, with my friends the past 2 years at The Festival of Indian in Charlotte. lol I guess this shows diversity?

SATs- I am planning on taking my first SAT in October of next year, expect around a 2100
SAT II- I am planning on taking Math 2, Biology, and Chemistry next year, should be 760+ in all 3
ACT- I will also take this test, hopefully around a 33-34

Colleges

Harvard
Princeton
Stanford
Duke
UNC-Chapel Hill
Brown
Johns Hopkins
Wake Forest
NC State
Eastern Carolina University
Appalachian State University

It is not a final application and therefore cannot be evaluated conclusively. However, keep up your progress in the ECs and volunteering, score highly on standardized tests, and keep your grades high.

If all that happens, then you are in a group of highly qualified applicants. Only a small fraction of these applicants are accepted into the most selective colleges, so you’ll have to produce a very convincing application and get lucky! Good luck.

You look really good for ones such as Eastern Carolina and Applachian and NC State which should be safties for you. If you get your predicted test scores, HYPS is possible even though it is a mega reach. Best of luck!

Chance back at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/696912-chance-lower-ivies-others.html

if you can get those expected test scores, you have an excellent chance at most of those schools.

Thanks guys, i appreciate it

App State, NC State, and ECU are my safety schools, but I am really interested in Duke and UNC, as well as HYPS and Wake, considering I’m a big Wake fan.

bumppppppp

anyone have any advice?!

bumppppppp

I think the above posters presented an accurate impression of your chances.

You have very good chances my friend. You are on the right path!

Everything looks great! Keep it up!

How do you expect a 2100 or 33-34 when your psat was only a 178? to go up that significantly you will need to study a ton. Other then that you look good.

Thanks guys!

Athlete1010- I took the PSAT with absolutely no prep.
I met with an SAT coach yesterday and I’m going to be practicing pretty much all summer, so I think I can get up to the 2100 range.

Anyone have anymore advice?

I will chance back!

bumppppppppppppp

If you maintain your current trends you will get into UNC and Wake.

Duke and HYPS are all high reaches.

Hey golfer111, you look pretty good! I jusrt hope that you meet your target SAT score and play up a quirk/passion you have. You got the grades, and you seem to be well on the right track-solid job! :)

Thanks Secret Asian Man and big dreamer!

I am really passionate about medicine, and i aspire to be a neurologist, which is why I’m interning this summer with one.
So I guess and can portray that interest through being President of our HOSA club, which has over 120 members and counting?

Take at least one SAT II in something other than science or math (like US History or Literature or Spanish)…

Thanks for reminding me The Government!
I actually just recently spoke to my counselor, and she recommended that I take AP U.S. History instead of AP Psychology due to my ability to take an SAT II.
I’ll probably cancel the Chemistry SAT II as I am only taking the AP class my senior year

SAT IIs- Biology, Math II, and U.S. History
