Okay, should I be worried?

Ummm, so I know we're getting our AP exam scores via mail. And I just remembered this thing which I'm beginning to worry about: so in my AP tests (Bio and US), I genuinely appreciated and felt sorry for the graders reading my FRQ's because my handwriting was... well let's just leave it at that. And my essays were kinda long.

So at the end of the essay, with like 30 seconds to spare, I wrote a little "Thank you very much for grading my essays and sorry about my handwriting" in that same ridiculous handwriting at the very end of my essay (like at the bottom, so abundant spacing in between the essay and the short note). I DID NOT PUT A LINE ACROSS THESE NOTES. Now I'm afraid that would have given a bias to the essay graders.

I know they read the essays in like 2-3 mins or whatever. I didn't write stuff like THIS IS SPARTA/WHY SO SERIOUS? (although I was tempted, teehee). Do you think even those thank-you notes could have affected my grade?

Seriously, this question might sound like a joke, but I AM concerned. I want to get a good AP score on all of them :/ Thanks so much.

I think they might even appreciate the note.

I mean, these are humans reading it.

Nah don’t worry about it.

OP, i like your username. haha.

Yay! Thanks for making me feel better everyone ;D

sendoutalarms - lol, thanks. When it comes to bio, wow, my love is just SO passionate…

Speaking of which, my friend who graduated this year took the test last year and he drew a picture of a person smashing a plant, saying I HATE PLANTS AND THIS STUPID FRQ!.. or something like that. He got a 2. :)

I cannot even read my friends handwriting on a normal basis, and he told me while taking the AP test (this was back in 9th grade for World), his handwriting was 10x worse. He ended up getting a 5 on it, so I am guessing AP graders are very good at deciphering handwriting. As for the notes, I would say that if they can read your handwriting for the essay, they can read the notes, and would probably appreciate the time to consider the reader.

Most of the times they just look for key terms and don’t care about your handwriting/grammar/superflouus information as long as there isn’t totally incorrect info.

Love the sn :D. I agree with you completely. I did the same thing that you did. I looked all over the test for rules that said not to thank the people that are grading the essays and I didn’t find anything…

According to my teacher, if they can’t read your handwriting, they give your paper to one of the more experienced graders. If that doesn’t work, they actually have a professional there that specializes in handwriting. If the professional can’t read your handwriting, I’m not sure what happens but you probably deserve a 1 anyway.

As far as your note goes, I wouldn’t be worried about it. Graders are humans too. They’re not going to take off points for something very trivial and actually polite.

As others have said, no need to fret. My AP Calc teacher from last year has graded AP tests a few times, and he said that drawing pictures/writing little notes to the graders is actually appreciated, since the job can get pretty boring after a while. :)

Hahahah don’t worry at all. One of of the last parts on a Free Response on my BC calc test I had no idea how to do it so when I was finished with everything I wrote “Have no idea on this one. AP = Advanced Procrastination” and then I drew a little picture lol. I got a 5 on the test so obviously it didn’t affect my grade much haha.

I did this exact thing. I wrote out a small short letter apologizing for my horrid writing and I got a 5 on AP World.
