Oklahoma!

Hello! I wanted to see if it would be possible to meet any current students at Otterbein that are in the show Oklahoma. My family will be coming to the matinee on June 17th. We loved “Thoroughly Modern Millie”. My younger daughter will be a freshman next year and has already decided she is going to be a MT major in college(wish us luck!!!). She would really like to meet a current student or two in Otterbein’s program. My older daughter will be a high school junior and she has been a student director and helped productions mostly from behind the scenes, though she has been in some shows and she is a great musician. If saying “hi” after the show is not possible(we noticed cast was not made available after Millie…at least as far as we know), then perhaps buying a student or two some coffee or food at Java Central or another local place a few days after the show would be a possibility? We are local and I go to Westerville fairly often. My daughters would love to hear about life at Otterbein! Hope to hear from someone. We are all looking forward to the show!

I hope my first post did not seem weird or creepy. Basically, I just wanted to convey that my daughters would love to meet the actors sometime if given a chance! Well, we saw the show yesterday. It was another fabulous performance put on by Otterbein’s theater department! All parts(including ensemble) were strong as usual. Some folks had to pull double duty as the cast only had 13 people in it, probably due to students going home, traveling or working at theaters over the summer. The actors playing Will and Laurey did a really outstanding job. I want to really give a special shout out to the young lady who played Aunt Eller. She was great AND she did a great job in Thoroughly Modern Millie as Miss Dorothy. Two parts with diverse vocal ranges and acting styles. She is quite a versatile actor and singer! Kudos to you! Set was great as usual too. My younger daughter(who wants to study musical theater in college) is trying to talk me into season tickets next year. I think we will probably do that. She is quite smitten with the program and I am sure she has already put Otterbein on her list of schools that she would love to go to when the time comes. She is only going to be a freshman, so she has time. Job well done!

Hi I just happen to come across your post and would be more than happy to talk to y’all about the program. I’m here playing Aunt Eller in Oklahoma and I talk to perspective students all the time. Sorry we missed you after the show it takes us a while to get out of costume, but we always will stay after to talk to people. Hope this helps! -Noël

Hi Noel,
Thanks for the reply! I will remember in the future to hang out with the girls for awhile after shows. I will try and find a way to contact you privately. I don’t think I have enough posts to private message you, but I am not sure. Again, you were great in the show!

Hello.
Would you please explain your experience with vocal training at the school?
Do you feel you get a solid foundation of legit and pop?
How many vocal teachers are there?
Do you have a private every week?
Thank you!
