Ohio Leadership Awards Program
worth $3-5 k
anyone gotten this before? anyone know about it? does the name suggest it's not exclusive to Case? Is the award worth 5k yearly, or total?
in any case, it's not very much
the app basically has you fill out your activities and a teacher rec... all of this is already on the common app... which makes me think an independent committee reviews this award

I got the same email about it today.

I wasn't quite sure about it either, and their website only says:

"The Ohio Leadership Awards Program provides a total of $85,000 in scholarships annually. The scholarships will be awarded to at least twenty Ohio residents who are freshman applicants. A separate application, a nomination by a high school faculty member, and an on-campus interview with a faculty member and an alumnus are required. The Ohio Leadership Awards Program application will be mailed to applicants who indicate interest in this program on their admission application. These awards are renewable for up to eight (8) semesters of undergraduate study if the recipient maintains satisfactory academic progress."

I ran a search on it, and it seems like it's Case exclusive . . . the Ohio part of the title just means it's solely for Ohio residents.

thanks Oboe!
Hopefully, we'll both be part of those 20!

Also, do you know if this will affect our candidacy for other larger scholarships?

Also, I think the 3k-5k is total. do the math: 85k/20 is roughly 4k per person. I know it says annually, but keep in mind they have to award students of 4 different classes each year.

I just came across a post from a year or two ago . . .

It sounds like receiving a larger scholarship (like the Trustee's, which is now $26,800) may affect our candidacy for THIS scholarship, but that we'll receive the higher award if it's really only possible to receive one.

And the same thought about its renewability has crossed my mind as well.

There aren't that many answers out there, but there's really nothing to lose by going for it! =]

darn... I'm not a big fan of the one-scholarship deal
