Old or new SAT?

I’m going to take the SAT, but I’m not sure which to take for 2015/2016.
I’m currently leaning towards the new SAT because
-I’ve been slacking off too much and have barely(if at all) studied for the old SAT

Thoughts?

Also, I took the PSAT this year… was that for the new or old SAT? I thought it was pretty easy, so I might take the actual version.

My junior is taking both. The old one Dec 5 and the new one probably sometime in June-ish.

The PSAT this year was, I believe, the new version.

@MotherOfDragons is correct, the PSAT this year was the new format. I would go with the new version if you haven’t already been studying for the old version. It’s just my guess but I think the curve will be much more forgiving on the first few sitting of the new test and tougher on the last few sittings of the old test.

take the old!!! more material to practice: real released tests and its very learn able. I went from an 1890 to a 2180

BRUH SO MANY PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW THIS BUT IN MARCH YHE NEW SAT RESULTS WILL NOT BE OUT UNTIL MID-MAY, which only leaves you the June date please keep that in mind!!!

I’d say study over Christmas break and take the current SAT in January at least. There’s much more prep info on it and the no calculator math section on the new test is just ridiculous. I’ve avoided the new test at all costs (I’m a junior) and I am very happy with my choice. If you don’t like your January scores take the ACT in the spring.

PSAT results will be out in a couple of weeks. You could wait for those results to inform your decision. 1.5 months with really good prep materials vs.4 months with not so good prep material is a tough call.

My junior has decided to do both plus the ACT. Her score on the practice tests in the old blue book improved by just doing the first two tests. So, you may not need very much time to get ready for the old test just get through as much of the blue book as you can before January.

I think 3scoutsmom is right about the curve. Alot of kids taking this last administration of the test will be retesters and kids that have been prepping. More naive kids will take the new version.

I would suggest taking the old if you haven’t yet.

My son did that, and it will be useful to see how he does on the new SAT vs. the old SAT, as he has learning disabilities.
