alright ladies and gents. i am 40 yrs old and going back to college. i am currently in CC finishing my AA this semester. i would like to get a philosophy degree then i plan on going to law school. does anybody have any suggestions on a school or a plan that i should be looking at. im sorry if im not asking the right questions. i prob need help with admissions and everything else. i am basically looking for a plan or a plan of attack that i should be looking at now. does school status really matter? any help would be very appreciated!!!

Since you plan on going to Law school next keep the costs for your undergrad low. Look at your in-state schools.

Where do you live? Are you willing to move? How are your grades and test scores?

If you’re female, a number of schools have programs for older students. I know Bryn Mawr has McBride, and I think other women’s schools have them, and some have programs for single mothers with children. Penn has a Bread upon the Waters scholarship endowed by a woman who went back to school at about your age.

You sound like you already know this. There are excellent schools with continuing education programs (where you’ll want to apply), but beware of so-called adult degree completion programs that offer degrees in non-academic subjects.

Your CC should have counselors to help you get started with this process. That is supposed to be one of their strengths.
