A school that I’m applying to’s website says that their middle 50% for the SAT (“old SAT format”) is 1040-1210. I don’t really understand these scores. Isn’t the old SAT out of 2400? What does “Old SAT format” mean? And how do the new SAT scores translate?
This isn’t a “bad” school, so I couldn’t imagine it being 1040-1210/2400. Can someone explain please?
@Inicole some data reports only use SAT reading and math, even though the old test was out of 2400.
Those numbers would be CR and Math combined. The College Board has published concordance tables to determine equivalencies between old and new format.
Okay, so I scored a 570 Math and 680 CR. This would make 1250 which would put me over the 50th percentile, right? I will be retaking the SAT in a few weeks to improve my math a little bit so
The middle 50% is the scores that fall between 25% and 75%. So your score is above the 75th %, which is a very good place to be.
Yay, thank you for your help. I am still going to retake it regardless because my math score isn’t as high as I’d like it (since I’m planning on going into engineering). But at least I sent in a score so far that’s already above that 75th %.
