Does anyone know if it is possible to use an old textbook ~ 10 yrs. for comparative government? In other words, how recent is the material covered for the ap exam?

Some of the essay questions ask things like "Discuss ... in the past twenty years" or "... after 1992." The latest AP exam was like that.

So do it at your own risk. I barely used my textbook to tell you the truth. Just devour the Ethel Wood study book in time and you'll be good. And know your current events.

The material is pretty recent imo. I'd buy a newer edition if you can (or just buy Ethel Woods study guide, it's all I used and I'm certain I got a 5).

Llpitch is right. Recent things like Vicente Fox's and Yar'Abda's presidencies are crucial things to know, and they happened in the twenty-first century.
