Older student (in my 50's!!!) transfer to UC?

As stated above I am an older student currently taking classes at a CC. In the past 30 years I have accumulated almost 150 units. I have most GE requirements done with the exception of 3 math classes and a few others. Probably about 3 semesters worth of classes as I usually only take 2 at a time. In my earlier life I majored in music and in theater but now I am thinking if I do transfer it would be in history or possibly Spanish which I have been studying for the past 3 years.

I have no real goal or career in mind. I have been a working singer/actress as well as a stay home mom for the last 20 years. Now I want to graduate from college primarily for my own fulfillment. Finances are not a problem as my spouse is very supportive. What are the realities of someone in their 50's transferring to a UC? How welcoming are the UC's to non-traditional students? Do thy insist that you have a "plan" or career goal? My current gpa is 3.9. UC Davis is the closest to us but if I choose a CSU instead Sonoma State is less than one hour away.

Any info or advice is appreciated!

age doesnt really matter, anyone can transfer to a UC, they dont dicriminate based on things like age. and with your GPA u will deifintely get into UCD.

Age doesn’t deter your transfer chances.

From UC’s non-discriminatory statement: “The University of California, in accordance with applicable Federal and State Law and University’s nondiscrimination policies, does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex (including sexual harassment), gender identity, pregnancy/childbirth and medical conditions related thereto, disability, age, medical condition (cancer-related), ancestry, marital status, citizenship, sexual orientation, or status as a Vietnam-era veteran or special disabled veteran. This nondiscrimination policy covers student admission, access, and treatment in University programs and activities.”

I saw a video about a mother and daughter both attending ucb. they seem to enjoy it.

the youngest transfer to berkeley last year was 15 and the oldest was like 65. Age doesn’t really matter.

Thank you all for your replies…you have boosted my confidence. Does anyone know of I must be full time once I transfer? Because of work and also needing to take only 2-3 classes at a time I am not sure I would ever be able to take say 15-17 quarter units at once. Is there any requirement about this?

^ u do not need to be full time
