Ole Miss Marching Band?

Hi everyone. I have 2 questions, but let me explain my situation first:
So I played trombone from 6 to 8th grade consistently, and in 9th to 12th I started playing violin in orchestra. I really wanna be in marching band, but I'm not as good as I used to be on my trombone because of the switch from bass to treble clef. I want to know:

1) is it hard to make Ole Miss' marching band? Like the audition? How is the sight reading? Do they judge hard?

2) is there ANY WAY POSSIBLE that I can not audition but still be in marching band? I don't think I could financially make the drive to campus. I live 7 hours away. Thanks for your time!

I have no knowledge of the requirements for membership in the Pride of the South Marching Band. However, I suggest you contact the band director. I’m sure he would be able to answer your questions. Good Luck.
