Thank you^^^

Bosox, we disagree about the purpose of college. Go to a technical institute if you want a trade. And marginal or slight differences, like between the various Ivies, does not mean putting on a different tier or jumping to the word ‘inferior.’

Bigdog, did you see the title of the thread…with the word ‘Colgate’ in it? And you think there are only 3 “amazing” LACs? Enough said. I’ll let the folks at Middlebury, Pomona, Bowdoin, Wellesley, Carleton, Vassar, Wesleyan, Davidson, etc know.

WUSTL should be very high given the energy they put into their ranking.

And please, putting Wash U in the same sentence with Swarthmore is an embarrassment. Try U Chicago and we’ll agree.

Bosox, thanks for the tip on “middle of nowhere” and recruiting. I’ll make sure to let the folks at Williams know. Last I checked, Colgate grads were doing just fine.

finalchild, now you are making a fool out of yourself - all engineering and business majors and others who want a career please leave college immediately!! It has been declared that you might as well go to a technical institute. HA!!! How ridiculous.

Yes Colgate in title on WashU board!! Let all those glorified high schools know that they are not amazing. Colgate is tied with Colby - not impressive at all. Many, many links to that school…not impressed!

I thought you were leaving this board a while back…plenty of LAC’s threads out there. Maybe your “wisdom” is better spread there. After that “technical institute” line its hard to take your seriously.

bosox, are you still deciding or are you picking WashU?

wash u, why?

Bigdog, now you’re crapping on Colby? Classy. Do you trip over your arrogance every day?

Bosox, grab a couple of years of college business school under your belt before you assume you half an idea of what you’re talking about.

Bosox, how do you wrap your head around some of the very top colleges in the country being in the “middle of nowhere”?

Bigdog…but no comment on Bosox saying what happens at the LACs should have already been completed in high school? A little hypocritical.

…shame on you bosox. Stop that and go straight to technical school…or Wharton…same thing.

Yeah you’re right. I’ll rethink my decision, have a gap year, then apply to some technical schools. Thanks for all the insight finalchild. You’re a real winner!

Business college? Is that a 2 year program or 4? Seriously.

Dropped it in to let others know all LAC grads aren’t close minded and arrogant like you.

I think you should move on. Wasn’t it WashU that wailisted your D? Is that what all the hate for them is about? Most likely. God just move on. I used to want to learn about UVA and spent time on that board - then my D got waitlisted and I’ve never been back. Why would I… to torment high school kids and tell them other schools are better. Be bigger than that finalchild…or did you not learn those skills at your LAC?

Bigdog, did I not already say I personally would pick Wash U over Colgate…several times? Not because of overall quality but because Colgate is too “preppy” for my tastes. What exactly have I said that makes you think I’m narrow-minded? What would make you think you can assess that? All I’ve argued here is that there is not a big gap between Wash U and Colgate. Nothing more. And some of the arguments…like Wash U has better engineering (when Colgate doesn’t have engineering) were honestly ludicrous. Do you not agree? To me, that is like a hamburger joint telling the pizza joint that they have better hamburgers. The pizza joint says “but we don’t sell hamburgers.” And the hamburger joint retorts “I don’t care…our hamburgers are still better.”

And in the meantime you suggested there are only 3 worthy LACs. And you dumped on Colby with no provocation at all. Maybe you should move on?

Nope I shouldn’t, this is a WashU site and I go on it to gather info and help my D decide if she should attend.

Instead I get sucked into silly nonsense with you, which is stupid and I’m done with it. RyanMK is right.

Due to a certain problem, I couldn’t visit CC for the past couple of days and woah when I come back, I see this!
I think it was a mistake to not post Colgate’s FA. It is $47k. I am sorry I forgot to mention it. But I believe it is still a considerable difference for my family. I have learnt quite a lot from all the above discussion. Job placement, overall quality of life, ease of double majoring, study abroad etc are some of the factors I consider apart from FA. I think most of them have been covered by all the respected participants of the discussion.
