now, I'm no reactionary who doubts global warming. but seriously, this feels weird...

i think i wanna read a conservative blog to see the reaction

OMG I thought it was interesting that he won. I was in class with a bunch of conservatives and they were saying the only thing worse than hillary running was is al gore decided to run. i was like *** he is awesome lol.

I subscribed to the NYT' email news notification thing, and I got an email about how Al Gore won. Pretty interesting, but I don't think the Peace Prize is adequate for him, really...

I support the decision. It feels weird, but how many guys can honestly say they were VP of the United States, an Oscar winner, and a Nobel laureate? Plus, the global warming issue really needs to be resolved, although I personally support the plan by Nordhaus and Shellenberger (if that's what his name is). He really helped to bring attention to the issue in a non-divisive way.

Stopping global warming is cool, but what's so peaceful about it? I don't get it. I guess they gave him that prize because they couldn't get away with giving him a legitimate science prize.

Well, if you follow his argument, global warming will result in battling or resources, particularly water.

Wow, this is sad :(

How is it sad? It's awesome! Completely unlike the Literature awardee, Doris Lessing, who's more like an Elfriede Jelinek in the field...

Sure, al gore has told us all that global warming exists. What has he done though?

hes brought atttention to a very important issue. its up to the individual to help bring change.

I am a conservative who believes we should stop screwing our planet. I'm not saying we should all go hippy tree hugger here. But there are many things we can do to help the environment: buy more fuel efficient cars (if enough people shy away from the gas guzzlers, the manufacturers will stop producing them. It's basic supply and demand.), recycle your bottles and paper, turn off electricity when not needed, buy electricity from companies that invest in sustainable forms of energy, etc.

Al Gore might sensationalize the issue, but at least he's gotten one conservative to stop wasting as much as he did before.

He deserves the prize he won.

he had good karma, its the universe repaying him and the world for the lost presidency

it's nice to see a hypocritical aristobrat winning the highest prize of its kind... really shows the ignorance of the majority

^^^^

Or maybe that post right there shows your ignorance? :)

No, TheF is sorta right. I am very liberal and I really despise Al Gore. He is a hypocrite who charters planes around the country and tells us to drive less. He consumes more and produces more pollution than the average person. And again like somebody else said, what does global warming have to do with peace?

A lot of the criticism of Al Gore is overblown or outright lies. I'm not saying that all of it is, but a lot is.

I know that. Which is why I check what I hear. But I know he doesn't help the environment all that much, if at all. Practice what you preach.

I don't understand why these people 'against' global warming always point to Al Gore and say "He has a big house, he uses a private jet, he uses more energy than the average individual" etc.

What ever happened to 'Don't Shoot the Messenger'? Al Gore has never once claimed that he has personally helped reduce global warming. He does not believe he is on some pedestal above everyone else telling them that he is this great savior for the world and everyone else should follow him. He is trying to get the word out, so why attack him?

You apparently DON'T check what you hear. In his personal life, he does do quite a bit. There is some room for improvement but not as much as you seem to think there is.

He has a private jet?! No way!! I would have expected him to fly in economy class in a cramped commercial airplane!!
