The remaining students are booing. If that’s not a sign to the powers that be that there needs to be a swift and drastic change, I don’t know what could be.

The whole Shane Morris fiasco…just, wow.

rjk, Jim dissed Michigan’s football players’ academics, not the University’s overall academics. If I recall, he questioned Michigan athletic’s “academic integrity”. But I agree that his arrogance does not sit well with the regents. I personally don’t like him either. But if he can coach, than so be it. I also like Les Miles.

At this point, I think, barring a miracle, there is a better than 75% chance that Hoke will not be our coach come January.

ForeverAlone, I agree that we need a new AD. Dave Brandon was fine, but we need a new direction and vision. Less of a businessman and more of an AD. As for Nussmeier, there is a good chance that many of the top coaches will be gone along with Hoke, including Nussmeier. That is even more likely if we get a head coach with an OC background, like Miles or Harbaugh. As a whole, the problem isn’t just Hoke. Most of our team is underachieving, which means that all the coaches are performing below par.

Michigan is one of the top three programs of all time. The other two are Notre Dame, to whom Michigan taught the game… and Alabama.

Everyone seems down on the Big Ten, but consider that three of the top ten programs if all time – Michigan, Nebraska and Penn State – are down.

As for Michigan, what made them great was the ability to beat the CR@p out of you at the line of scrimmage, running split-back or single-back pro sets or going with the I.

There was no shotgun, no weak tackles leaving an unsure QB vulnerable.

They lined up, were bigger and stronger than you, and ran the ball down your throat. That is big ten football. My badgers still play that way.

But Michigan had QBs like Brian griese, Elvis Grbac, Todd Collins, and ahem, Tom Brady. NFL level QBs.

They need to get away from that pistol/spread crud and get back to mauling defenses with strength up.front and using pro-level QBs to play action pass.

I think the rest of the big ten should do the same, except where already employed: big ten teams tend to have very big and strong lines and big tailbacks. Smaller teams need the spread; but when you are big and strong, you only need to steamroller your smaller opponents.
