omg I did worse on my SAT retake, EA still good?

I am in a really Cr*ppy situation now. Last December I took the SAT, got a CR/M/W score of 660/740/710. I retook it this may and got a score of 680/690/590. I was so stunned and disappointed, especially since I spent hours doing & practice tests since. Totally the score drop was from 2110 to 1960, with only a final 2130 if superscore is allowed.

I resolved to study like hell this summer and retake it again.

However there is a little problem. I also want to apply for EA at Princeton (my dream school) and Uchicago. The due date for EA is october. I also need to take the SAT 2. So I need to take 2 tests in total, taking up 2 test dates. The problem is that the earliest 2 test dates available for me is october and november 2011, with the latter being AFTER the due date for EA.

Hence one of those tests will be late. Princeton and Uchicago says that they accept november scores for EA, but how does it work? The november scores come in late Nov/early Dec, so do they receive the scores AFTER your application? If so, then will it impact my chances of getting accepted?

omg I feel so bad right now please help!

By the way, I am an international student in Hong Kong.

Princeton and Chicago are my top schools as well, but you can only apply to one EA because of Princeton SCEA. Yes, you can send in test scores after applications are sent out, but keeping in mind that decisions come out mid December, you’d be better off taking the October SAT. Also, you seriously want to raise those scores in order to have a solid chance at either. Good luck.

Yes, but Princeton requires SAT 1 as well as SAT 2. Should I take my SAT 1 first, send my incomplete application, and then send my SAT 2 scores or the other way round?

you should look into ACT in Sept and SAT IIs in October if you want to risk it. If ACT does nt come out well, do SAT in November.

I am surprised you did nt plan on taking subject tests in June since most people try to get them out of the way right after APs.

Take the SAT IIs first. SAT II is a requirement, so why would you send an incomplete application because one of your SAT scores is low? You did what you can, and now it’s time to move in. Take the SAT II, then try again with the SAT.

But yeah, like Brando said, those are low scores for either school. I hope you have other qualities to seriously compensate.

I didn’t think of doing the SAT 2 in June cause I took for granted that I will improve, stupid mistake.

I will look into studying for both the SAT and ACT and SAT 2’s at the same time and take all 3 if necessary.

Anyway thank you all for the advice, anything else anybody might have to say (good bad or etc) would be gladly appreciated.
