i think you have a ok chance.
cuz for schools like stanford, you never know who they want, they sometimes just randomly reject people.
i reaaaaaaaaaaaaallly hate that. good luck. and keep in mind, every ivy hopeful is scarced by the same way. you are not the only one.

Unfortunately, your GPA will severely hurt your chances. However, you can make it up. Does your school provide weighted class ranks? If it does and you have a great rank (like top 2%), then you will have no problem. You can also make up for it with great (read unique) essays and marvelous rec letters. ECs will help too. Stanford looks for extreme dedication to a few ECs, not a laundary list of activities. Finally, make sure you apply if you love the place! You only get one chance, and you never kow what'll happen. I'm sure if you exhibit passion in your application, the adcom will consider it seriously and positively. Anyways, good luck with your app.

Courtette,

You don't have to be a god to get into stanford. I am persian just like the guy you talked about. I only have one important leadership position. I have below 1500 SAT and average SAT IIs. I have not won any international or even national award. I am not an amazing writer by any means; however, my essays did reflect the unique experiences I had in Iran. I am not the smartest guy at my school, nor am I ranked first or second. I have not done any serious research and I am not a member of athletcis or band at my school. But I got into stanford SCEA. The admission process is at times very random, and you NEVER know what'll happen.

hahhaah collegeperson12, that's so true...all the koreans at my school are always talking about church, etc...sad thing is that they go there just to socialized..

SCEA, youre right. i was just ranting, but i know it's a random process, at stanford and tons of other places... maybe that's whats so scary. good job, paulhomework!

hm.... see the thing is it's real hard to "truly" be dedicated to something at our school...... what does the word dedicated really mean to college admissions officers.... i mean i've done a lot of things for 3 years now (as a junior) and yet i don't have a leadership position because my school is very competitve... they want to make everyone into perfect well-rounded people! An average school day is a rough day at school... sports practice..... play practice... then go home to 5 hours of homework!.... for me i do many EC's but and in my opinion i'm dedicated to all of them, but then again i don't want it to sound like a "laundry list"
