Omitting: What does it do to your score?

On the packet today, it said that you shouldn't omit, and that guessing doesn't affect your score....

But on the SAT, when you guess, you get penalized

Can someone explain why this is? At the end of each section, I just guessed on multiple questions, and don't really know what that does to my score...

thanks!

it does nothing
they dont take away any points thats y u should always guess

On The Sat If You Omit, You Will Not Have Points Deducted, But If You Get A Question Wrong, Points Will Be Deducted.

On The Act If You Omit, You Will Not Have Points Deducted, But If You Get A Question Wrong, No Points Will Be Deducted.

Has there ever been anyone that's like a great guesser and guessed on 5-10 on a section and still got like a 30?

my friend put straight C's on the science test for like the last 10 questions and got a 28 lol

lol im pretty sure ur question will be answered throughoutly when people get their scores

omitting questions lowers your score actually.

There is no guessing penalty on the ACT. In a very hypothetical situation, if you know 30 out of the 40 on a section, you would probably get a 26 or so. However, if you guess on 10 of them, and have a 1 out of 4 chance of getting those right, that would add 2-3 points to your original 26 or so and you'd get a 28-29 or thereabouts.

NEVER omit on the ACT. Just bubble in random guesses if you have something like 2 seconds left.
