On campus apartments?

I was just doing my housing preferences for fall 2011 and can anyone tell me the difference between Kosove and Holly, if there is any? Or which is better?

Holly is newer; Kosove is just a little bit closer to classrooms and also one of the dining halls, Kosove also offers apartment units with doubles and singles–Holly I think just has single bedrooms in the apartments. They’re both fine. If you don’t need a kitchenette or if you get a meal plan, consider getting a suite-style or traditional-style dorm room to save money.

I was planning on getting an apartment, even though I have to get the meal plan, just because I want my own room lol. This is probably a stupid question, but when you pick your housing preferences, does “community” mean all of the buildings? Like if I put community for Holly-Kosove and put Holly single room, that would mean all of the Holly buildings instead of an individual building (A, B, etc)?

If I were you, I’d phone the USF Housing office and tell them what you’d like and ask for their suggestions. They shouldn’t be super busy this time of year and you should be able to get the info you need over phone. Every year housing changes around who’s assigned to different dorms (i.e. freshmen, upper-classmen, interest groups, honors, etc.) and the USF housing website might not have the most up to the minute stuff about the dorms. Most freshmen share dorm rooms with roommates, singles for freshmen are very limited. Housing is tighter at USF now that freshmen are required to live on campus if they are not from immediate area and wait lists are now being used, so don’t wait until the last minute.
