On-Campus Housing

Hello.

I am currently on the waiting list to receive on-campus housing at UMD. I applied for on-campus housing and meal dining 4-5 days after I was accepted to the university back in early-October 2012. I recently yesterday received an email from the Office of Residential Life welcoming me to campus housing. Here is what the email enclosed: "Congratulations on your application for housing with the Department of Resident Life at the University of Maryland. We are very excited that you have asked to live on campus and that you'd like to be part of the vibrant, engaged, and active community that exists in our residence halls. This email serves as written confirmation of campus housing for the Spring 2013 semester." The part that I do not understand is "this email serves as written confirmation of campus housing for the Spring 2013 semester." The rest of the email contains key facts about the benefits of living on campus and information about on-campus housing assignments and dates for moving in.
What does this mean? Someone please explain this to me. I am not understanding this.

Thank you.

The Office of Residential Life at UMD has already answered my question. There is no need to respond. Question answered. Question solved. Case closed.
