Trying to make a decision about on campus housing. Village and S Donahue are too expensive so I am comparing the Qaud and Hill. Any info/ pros and cons would be great. Also what are the best halls in each? Thanks!

The Quad is much nicer place (IMO), not that the dorms are all that great but the location can’t be beat…however, at this date I’m not sure any of the Quad rooms would be left - but you can try.

I applied for housing way back in early December. Im just trying to figure out what changes I want to make to my preferences. - Like if there are specific halls that are nicer than others in the hill. I have just heard that those dorms are much more spacious, but that some are more outdated than others. They said we could make changes to our app up through the end of March.

Oh - don’t know…my son has friends who live in the Hill but I don’t know which dorms.

D put in her preference for Quad, then Hill, then Village without specifying a particular building. I think they ask for specific preference if you want an all girls dorm because all the buildings looked the same to me. She’s also trying to figure out if she should pick a roommate or go random. She put in her deposit mid-October and the housing woman pretty much told us that she needed to pick someone who got their deposit in Oct/Nov or else she probably wouldn’t get the Quad.

Eyemamom - the housing folks picked my sons roommate for him and he’s in the Quad. He did complete the roommate preference form (or whatever its called) but never selected anyone, they just matched him up. He is with another marching band member and his dorm is an honors dorm - I don’t know if that makes a difference. We also put our deposit in in October. I hope she gets the Quad.

Hmm well if housing filled up that quick, sounds like I’ll be stuck in hill anyways! I’m not very picky just have heard different things about the hill, some say it’s terrible but others say it’s fine for freshman year! Thank you both!

When we toured last week, the Housing rep said the highest demand is in the following order: The Village, S. Donahue, Quad and then Hill. I was a bit surprised by S. Donahue because it is expensive. Our tour guide said he lives in S. Donahue and that it is half athletes and half regular students.

Your housing deposit priority is important at AU as not all freshman are guaranteed housing.

I have heard there are very good off campus housing options at AU - less expensive than living on campus and many on the Tiger Transit line.

I see that the wait list for housing takes effect on March 6th at 4pm. Seems a little late this year.
