Any tips? D visited with me in April and is returning with my wife for an October tour plus an interview. Any thoughts on what she can expect? I know some interviews are really laid back, getting to know you things (confirming that your knuckles don’t drag), and others are kind of intense where you’re put on the spot to see how you’ll handle yourself.
Anyone have an experience to share?
Thanks
I had an on-campus interview back in August with an alumna from the 1980s. Prior to this, I never had a college interview before, so I was really nervous and I had noo idea what to expect. Luckily, my interview went really well and I would say it was less intense because it was with an alumna, not with an official admissions counselor (although I would think Barnard’s admissions counselors would be pretty laid back as well). I would suggest looking up possible interviews questions that could be asked and making sure you could answer them thoroughly, but concisely. One piece of advice that I would give is to NOT write out a script for the answers to your questions. you want the interview to flow like a conversation, not like a speech (this was one of my flaws!) I feel like the admissions counselors could tell right away whether or not you memorized all your answers. Make sure to dress business casual, have good etiquette and manners, and ask questions when given the chance to show interest! Also be sure to email the interviewer after with a big thank you and with any other questions or comments you may have for them/ for Barnard. Best of luck with the interview!
Thank you.
It was yesterday and went very well. I think 51% of the intent is selling the school to the student and parent.
