Which do you recommend? How much does the average undergrad at Columbia spend working?

Whichever you can earn more money doing. Why is this a question?

If you can make $25/hr bartending or programming, do it. If you have no marketable skills, you’ll likely be relegated to a menial on-campus job.

almost all on campus jobs are have more flexible hours than off campus jobs.

I suppose my question does concern things like flexibility. I need the sort of job where I can take time off when I go home to visit. From what I’m reading, I assume that this is an on campus job.

Thanks, Drake.

This is pretty false. If you’re doing anything off campus where you have some sort of independence, you’ll have flexibility.

I was talking about job scheduling hours from the experience of several college friends…may not hold true at columbia; however, there is more flexibility to work at school ie the library or secretary desk, than at a food place or real business [from the perspective of the dozens of ppl I know going to college here in texas] So hold my comment with as a grain of salt if you will.

Well, I can always get back on the professional arm wrestling circuit.

if you are like most freshmen and have no marketable skills your best bet is to get an on campus job which typically pay $10-12 per hour.

typical off campus jobs are babysitting and tutoring SAT or high school classes
