Does anyone (especially the upperclassmen) know where the students who live in apartments off campus can park their cars if they choose to drive to class? The school website said something about a park and ride decal? How does this work? What is the closest allowable lots to the northeast side of campus (where most classes are)? What if they are in a class that starts period 8 or 9 (before restrictions are lifted)? If their class is period 10 or later, I would guess that they could park in any lot??? Anyone know?

I know you could get a Park and Ride decal, but I don't know exactly where those parking lots are at. However, you would still have to take a bus to get to the main side of campus. I don't know if you could get a Commuter decal, but if you could the parking lot you could park in is right behind the Hume Garage and you would still need to take bus to get to the main side of campus, unless you want to walk 15-20 minutes to get there.

Most restrictions are lifted at 4:30PM, and 8th period begins at 4:05PM, so if you want to take that 25 minute risk, then go ahead, but I know UPD is quick on issueing tickets; it is their life to give students tickets! If your class is after that, you shouldn't have a problem.

I know there is one lot right in front of Classroom Building 105 but you would have to pay accordingly on an hour rate. You could see if they have a semester plan, and it's right across the street from Library West, which would be on the main side of campus.

Aside from that, you best bet would be to take the bus. The bus routes in Gainesville are very good and on time. I'll be living off campus and will be taking Route 13 to and from campus. Where are you living?

This is for my D and she is living at Oxford Manor on Archer Rd.

she could bike to campus easily

Routes 9, 35 and 1 go through that area. The 9 and 35 are very good routes so I'm sure she wouldn't have a problem getting onto campus. IMO I don't think you should waste your money on a decal.

35 doesn't really go by OM, but the 12 does (so she can take the 9 or 12 to campus). I think she should just take the bus to get to campus (it's a short ride from OM to campus) and if she needs to get on campus after 4:30, use her car. She can park in the parking garage on museum road, before the Rawlings stop. She can also try parking at the lot across from the Reitz Welcome Center (by the engineering buildings on the south side of campus), it's an orange decal however.

I think her best option (if she really doesn't want to take the bus) is parking at that commuter lot on North-South, by the Hume garage (well, the street is called Gale Lemerand, but I still call it North-South) and then taking the commuter bus to the main part of campus (it goes around every 10 minutes or so).
