On campus vs alumni interview

So I'm going to be at Yale this summer for the Ivy Scholars program and I wanted to do an on-campus interview. However I was browsing around on here and saw that if you do an on campus interview then you pretty much won't be able to get an alumni interview.

So whats the deal on the on campus interviews? Is it done by a student or admission people? Is it short or longer like the alumni interview?

I’ll answer all of your questions by saying that the interview (on-campus or alumni) carries so little weight that it’s virtually negligible.

I signed up for an on-campus interview for mid-July. It is done by a Yale senior (not sure whether it’s rising senior, or already graduated senior…I’m assuming rising senior).

They told me to expect a 3-hr interview, at most.
